Yeah, but the G will have caught up with its interior and already have advanced its RWD system, and have an already-available AWD model. Playing catch-up's not a fun game

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..
Hello G35 group. TL owner / Acura-TL member here.
You guys are as biased as we are about our cars. However, I thought I'd educate you on few of the TL matters so that you don't continue to bathe your selves in your own excrement.
Torque steer: Hardly noticeable. Although few have complained (after C&D pointing out the torque steer, but aren’t they pretty much BMW biased anyways?), most of the threads on TL site don’t go on about the torque steer. I’ve gotten on my TL hard from time to time and I have not take note of any torque steer yet. Could be that I’m biased here.
Touch screen nav: Comes in very handy and the finger prints can be avoided by little thing called “screen protector”. Have you guys ever heard of this? It’s the same stuff you put on your PDA or any other imaging screen for that matter. Oh, I forgot, you guys don’t like gizmos.
Bluetooth: The bummer part of this is that you actually have to get a phone that has the Bluetooth capability. Hands free link (HFL) allows use of phone without your hand or crooked neck – hence “hands free”. However, once again, I must apologize for my underestimation of the superior driving technique the G35 drivers employ – taking the Ss while the phone is clutched between the head and the neck.
Voice commands: The TL drivers look absolutely like bunch of morons talking in their cars when there isn’t a passengers. Bunch of idiots saying stuff like “find nearest Italian Restaurant” or “Dial Home”. Bunch of babbling idiots we are.
Here are some other stupid toys we like to play with.
• The dammed car holds it’s speed when you go down a steep hill. I used to like constantly hitting my brakes to slow the car down, but this thing takes all the fun out of downhill accelerating, err, driving.
• Stupid car actually thinks it is smarter than me by cooling the area of the car that is facing the sun more than the shaded side. How dare it do that. I want to be totally in control of my AC system. I want my slide temperature adjuster back like in the old chevies.
• Who needs a DVD A? Why do I want to hear Donald Fagan in 5.1 surround sound when 2 distinct channels of CD quality was just fine? I only have two ears, don’t have six.
Okay, I’ll give you guys the performance thing, but hey, wait a minute, are you guys exempt from the government enforced speed limits? That’s pretty cool. Wow, I wish I had a G35 now. What a bummer. You guys get to drive faster. That’s not fair. My sales guy didn’t tell me about this.
Anyhoot, thanks for letting me come by for a visit and share my biased portion on this great site of yours. Hey, feel free to stop by ours sometime to share your bias also.
Ps: I did remember earlier this year when a G35 sedan was eating my exhaust going down to LA, but I guess you guys don’t want to hear that from a slower FWD TL.

"Most of the threads on TL site don’t go on about the torque steer"
Please...I had a 97 Prelude with much less power and torque, and that bad boy had torque steer, stop lying to yourself! Of course no one on the TL forum do not complain about torque steer, they just spend $30K+ on a car they think it's God's gift to the auto industry...Why are you even reading C&D and MT? You're not suppose to read anything that has anything negative to say about the TL anyway (don't you remember that was in your agreement when you signup for acura-tl.com)?

Ever heard of a 'head-set'? Yeah, you'll be using that when the carrier's dump the bluetooth protocol...
"Voice commands: The TL drivers look absolutely like bunch of morons talking in their cars when there isn’t a passengers. Bunch of idiots saying stuff like “find nearest Italian Restaurant” or “Dial Home”. Bunch of babbling idiots we are."
You forgot mention the following phases that come in handy..."Find nearest Acura dealer to change transmission" or "Find nearest Home Depot" to buy somemore double-sided tape for your falling headliner...
"Who needs a DVD A? Why do I want to hear Donald Fagan in 5.1 surround sound when 2 distinct channels of CD quality was just fine? I only have two ears, don’t have six."
Thank you, but I rather have SACD, as most audiophiles consider SACD the better sounding of the two. BTW, this is something that I could add by going to an stero place. Can you go to your local mechanic and tell him/her to change your WWD (FWD) to RWD? Didn't think so...
"Ps: I did remember earlier this year when a G35 sedan was eating my exhaust going down to LA, but I guess you guys don’t want to hear that from a slower FWD TL."
Right...The G driver probably thought you were an Accord, and not worth even killing...

If that's your philosophy, then why did you even buy TL with 270 ponies? Why didn't you get an Accord? Oh wait, you did...
BTW, you also forgot to mention your exterior styling, a Civic with a body kit...
Oh, welcome to the forum!

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..
Wow, so mature of you to point out all the gadgets of the TL. But nothing on the negative side. Oh yea too many negatives, too many problems, and you still own a Accord.
I personally rather own a Accord than the TL any day of the week.
Go back to your TL buddies thinking you own a BMW or something. Because you don't.
On my test drives the TQ steer is VERY noticeable, especially on the MT. But then again, maybe your not noticing it because you just don't have enough TQ to produce it! lol

Re: TL owners and what they are saying about our car..
Hello TL Owner:
I've owned many FWD and RWD cars, and even own a mildly modded '96 Accord (TL?) now, as a 4th car, family car pool ride. Your TL is a nice technological Tour de Force and to be respected as such, with many fine features - but it's a luxury/techno car first, and a performance car second - as everyone who really knows the difference readily admits (those same guys you consider beneath you who work at the car mags - you know, the PROFESSIONAL drivers!). Those less capable drivers and/or less aware cannot seem to grasp the difference between performance and "posing", despite the well documented and supported empirical evidence.
Said it before and I'll say it again - your FWD (WWD) TL will eat my tailights on the way to Tahoe, in the Rocky Mountains, the Coast Highway, or anywhere else you care to tangle that does not consist of a straight line. Your fantasy that you ate a G35 (probably driven by my grandpa, who didn't even know he was racing - he's just driving normal!) will live with you always - as perception is reality for you - but a fantasy it shall remain. True, your TL has a higher top speed with both car's electronic "limiters" being stock, but as you say - have the speed limits been suspended? If not, then I beat you 0-30 MPH, 0-60 MPH, 0-100 MPH, and all the way up to 145 MPH with my 6MT (per Motor Trend).
Regardless, with your FWD configuration, it's all over for you in the real world, as soon as we hit the twisty's for any length of time. Your poor, overworked front tires just melt and go away - as I blow by you in a slightly tail-out position on a curvey "Passing Lane" in the mountains, canyons, foothills, coast highway - you name it.
Of course, you'll just turn up your killer (no question) stereo and pretend to the dumb blonde sitting next to you that you weren't really trying, maybe call up an Italian restaurant to impress her, as you see my pretty twinking taillights disappear in the distance. Make that restaurant reservation - but I'll be finished with my lasagne before you hit town, fool.
Again - I respect your car for what it is, a highly refined Accord that is built for the masses, but NEVER try to pretend your FWD car can compete with a comparable RWD in the performance arena - your foolishness is just exposed for all to see, and you diminish the great points you made about the many good aspects of your fine TL.

Those TL folks are just jealous of the G35 because in every magazine: Car and Driver, Automobile, Road and Track, etc... rated the G35 above their TL. The only way to get their frustration out is to talk crap about our cars.

i dun think they are really jealous....they do have better gadgets and interior they we do...so lets just say...each car has different purpose? and just leave it as that?

I think that guy he blew by was my sister driving my car with the e-brake on...she came home and was complaining about the smell right after a story about some TL ricer fly by. She was eating a slice of pizza when that happened lol

I bought a TL after test driving both it and the G35x. After driving the G35x I was planning on holding off on any purchase until seeing if the interior was going to be updated for 2005, but after driving the TL I fell in love.
I liked the performance of the G35x a bit better, but the driver's seat was extremely uncomfortable (per the repeated posts on the topic) My leg was in pain after 25 minutes behind the wheel. For me, most of my driving is in traffic, so the extra performance of the G35 wasn't something I could use very much, and the creature comforts of the TL are quite nice.
As you note, they are both great cars. I don't think too many folks would be unhappy with either of them in their driveways.
(i'm still lurking here to see what happens with the 2005 interior)
Edited by ibeplato on 05/17/04 07:57 PM.
