Who has informitive info?

Okay here's my delimma, I go to the dealership here in SE houston for some routine maintenance and inquired about What voids warranties and what is necessary in regards to switching rims, HU, and lowering. He told me that exhaust and intake won't void warranties unless there is clear cut evidence that it has comprimised the car. He also informed me that changing the HU could comprise but only if there was poor installation tied into the the factory wiring.
Not to steer off from the topic of this section but I get to talking to the guy in Service and parts about rims. He tells me that if I go with aftermarket rims and tires that I have to stay within specs of the fac rims and tires. He said I could upsize but only to an 18 and only with a 45 sidewall tire. I asked what about a size 35 for the tire on an 18 and then he tells me as long as I stay fairly close to fac spec. He also said something about if I went with a 19" wheels that they could possibly activate my abs and vdc when not engaged or something related to the vdc and abs.
Well all said and good but I really want 19's. I asked him as well about the tire press sensors and if they will conflict if I have aftermarket rims. He said that I may be able to re use the ones from my stock rims or I would need aftermarket ones.
Then I ask about lowering and one of the wrenchmen of Infiniti told me that it all depends on how low I want to go. He was allitle more informantive but not by much, the one thing he did give good advice on was the staggered wheels issue. He told me if I didn't mind not rotating tires then go with the staggered rims but when he said that I remembered that I live in Houston and the roads around here are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
Here's my boggle regarding my 06 Sedan, if I go with 19" non staggered rim and 35 series tire can I re use the Tire press sensors? Two, who here knows or have had issues with 19" wheels affecting the VDC and ABS? Please I need the right info cause I really don't want to be that GUY who buys something not needed or not compatible. Thanks, asked on the Tire maintenance section and two coupe guys gave me info but I think i'll ask the sedan community.

1) you can reuse factory TPMS depending on the rims. Some of them you can bolt on directly, some you won't be able to. You can always band them to the inside of the rims if you can't bolt them.

2) you will not face any issues if you run the right size tires. People run 18s, 19s, 20s all the time on G35. The bigger the rims, the thinner the sidewalls on the tires.

my honest opinon, get staggered. you're going to be running low profile tires regardless, it's not going to be that big of a "protection" if you ran 35 series all around vs 35 front and 30 rear.

Here's my $0.02:

I think he's right on his opinion regarding exhaust, intake & HU...sounds spot on.

Regarding your rim selection, VDC & ABS, not sure if you drive a RWD or if you have an X. If you have a RWD, you can go staggered or non-staggered...you can run 17's, 18's, 19's or 20's (Hell, I've even seen guys on here with 22's, but I wouldn't recommend that! ).

If you live in an area & are concerned about bad roads, I recommend beefing up the sidewall a size on the tires (i.e. if you go with 19's, depending on your rim width, go with a 245/40/19). I drive a lot, so I didn't go with a staggered setup. I believe every little bit will help you protect your rim, so why not the extra bit of protection and filling your fender a bit more & reducing the gap!

About the TPMS, as mentioned above, some aftermarket wheel manufacturers can fit them...some cannot. I asked my vendor before making my purchase on rims to be sure that they did fit.

Hope that helps you? Good luck!

Jim

I think everyone covered most of your questions, but I would like to expand on the above. If you are not lowered much, I think the 245/40/19 is a good idea (If you go staggered go with a 275/35/19 for the rear to match). If you are lowered a lot I would probably go with 245/35/19 (and a 275/30/19 for the rear if you go staggered). There is less of a chance to rub, and you do not need to worry about filling out the fender opening.

So for my circumstances, being in an 06 Sedan rwd, are the z springs and coupe springs the only choice for a conservitive lowering? I still would like to maintain some ride comfort if I do conserv lower. I've owned and still own a lowered car, and I don't want my Sedan to feel like a floor scraper. With a conservitive lowering will I still have the enjoyable driving experience like I have now being that my car is stock?

The zspring/front and coupe springs/rear are the same spring rates as a factory sport suspension. I didn't notice any change in the ride when I switched, but the handling is a lot better.

Douche bag...I was sticking up for you! Forgive me for being observent when reading. I noticed it when I first read this thread but didn't mention it, as it didn't matter....excuse me for being edu-ma-cated. I gave you my input on your questions as it looked like you could use the help.

BTW - Who the F is Lee Marvin & what's that comment all about?

PS - No need to post multiple threads about the same topic over & over again on this forum. If nobody replies, you can just "bump" the thread.

Yours truly,

"Tough Guy"

What I said regarding tough guy, I was quoting from Reservoir Dogs. The scene between Mr. Blonde and Mr. White. I forgot to put a cheesing smiley face next to my comment cause I was being facetious, ha!!!....your not the only one with a 12th grade education .
