Creaky/Rusty noise when depressing the emergency brake...

Hi all,

Recently, I noticed when I get out from my driver seat I hear a creaky/squeaky noise coming from the driver side rear (perhaps suspension area). I weighed about 165 pounds so it's not like I am a 350 pound guy getting out from my seat. Also, if I would to step and depress onto the emergency brake, it creaks a bit too, sounded like a rusty noise when I depress it in.

If I push down on the rear driver side trunk area (to test suspension) I hear that creaky/rusty noise too. You guys know what could be causing it?

I looked by the suspension area didn't noticed anything weird. My car was dropped with z springs for a bit and then went back to stock. I still see some pads left in the rear (can't see the inside pads).

Thanks...

Seems normal to me. I use to live in an apartment and the spaces were all on an incline. When I set the emergency brake and let off the brake pedal, it'll creak really loud and as I get out it'll creak again.

i had that creaky noise in the back too when everytime i got out of the car for some time, but it has dissapeared on its own, u can try to spray silicone lube on all your ball joints, compressions rods, stabalizer bar links etc etc spray everything that has a rubber bushing that's what i did to get rid of the front suspension creak noise when going over bumps so it might work for your back creak problem, as for your hand brake it could be that the steel wire or whatever u call it that pulls the brake shoes need a bit of grease.

The brake sound you are hearing is the rear brake shoe pushing out against the drum. Every car I've had makes that creaking sound when the emergency brake is engaged and then you let you foot off the regular brake.

Drum? We have disc brake in the back.

But the weird thing is I never had this problem up until the last couple weeks.

Then how come when I pushed down on the suspension, I can duplicate the sound?

YES A DRUM, that's how an emergency brake system works in a 4 wheel disc brake car, I told you to spray your rear suspension parts with silicone lube, front too if u have that creak noise when going over bumps, my lube says rubber safe si i sprayed all the bushings and the creaks dissapeared

Correct, I don't know how it works and not afraid to admit it.

hmm i can't remember the brand name but i think its made here in canada so i don't think it would be sold in the US, bottle said something like Professional Lube, safe for all rubber, suprisingly it dosen't turn red or to grease it stays liquid like WD40 but it worked that's the most important part

there was a different thread about this suspension creak noise and it had pictures and someone using some heavy duty silicone spray i can't find it now, but its the easiest DYI anyone can do it, just spray every suspension component that has a ball joint or rubber bushing, control arms, stabalizer bar links etc i looked the lube up its this bottle that i used on my car http://www.tessco.com/products/displ...78&eventPage=1

Do you step on the ebrake pedal hard enough? Sounds like the pads are not gripping enough. Could need some adjustment if the pedal is already on the floor.
