all around power
^^ good point, i had assumed VDC was off. leaving it on would kill power and have a significant impact on your run. a small amount of wheel spin at the launch is not a bad thing. watch for axle tramp though...
for reference, my relatively stock '04 ran 14.3 at ~98 (iirc) a couple months ago in 30 degree (celsius) heat, with a 2.1 60'. i've heard that's about average for a 6mt from '04.

Please post the date and time you ran. Secondly, get rid of the intake because it's slowing you down, especially off the line and if it's hot out.
If you weren't getting any spin and the VDC light wasn't flickering on the launch, then an engaged VDC isn't going to slow you down. My car will barely chirp a tire at the strip and it's done 14.3s@98mph with a Z-tube and the VDC on and off.

But regardless, stock 1st generation 2003-2006 G35s are capable of 14s in the quarter mile.

Hmmm...the conditions were quite good the summer night you raced:
8/12/08
Englishtown, NJ
78 degrees
54 degree dew point
29.78 baro pressure
31 foot elevation
Density altitude = 1,600'
The conditions that night were only sucking out .1 seconds and maybe 1mph. I think you just need a little more practice. Do you have aftermarket wheels or a heavy system in the car?
