my 2nd visit...
i came in with the thought of 16.5 and i'll take it on the spot.
I pushed pretty hard and talked to the sales manager, last time it was the used sales manager now i'm talking to the entire sales manager. He gave me some crap about he doesn't know how the used sales guy got 17.2k and after a while he honored the price of 17.2 as he wanted 18k. so i stayed firm with 16.5, he sat down and we went over things.i bought up the bumper and said fine 17.2 with the bumper done.
he wasn't able to do it but he countered with 17.2 plus i pay cost of bumper which came up to 800$??? and then we started going at it. He said fine he will split it so it would be 17.2k plus 1/2 the cost of the bumper ( $412.50) painted and installed. I said i'll sleep on that offer and walked out.
Now i'm happy with paying 17.2k for the car and saying F the bumper. But i'm wonder if i should wait it out some more and see if i can get 16.5k
i think i went to look at the car thrusday, i came back monday.
another though would be to get 17.2 + 412.50 for the AERO bumper installed... that might be worth it
but i'm toying with that idea right now.
looking for a part number for the aero bumper in black so i can take it back to them and say deal.
edit: i found out 3 keys and 1 remote, they put on new front pads and MAYBE rears. they said new brakes, i know the fronts are new.
I guess i need a 10mm to check the ATF fluid. i assume the fluid should be RED... i'm not sure what fluid for a AWD should be but i figure the dipstick is for the front trans so ATF should be it.

So, really, its like $16,800 with no bumper fix.
Its only $300. If you REALLY like the car, just go ahead and do it.
But I wouldn't do $17.2 plus half the bumper. My bet is he'll get it done for less, so he's still getting more than the $16.8 number.

i'm sure it is less. then what he says $800 at COST... cost to dealership for most bumpers run $3-500.
the price is 17.2 without bumper fix period. if i want something they will split the cost.
17.2k with my 9.5% sales tax means i buy the car for 15.5 or something like that.

yea, actually i thought about the same thing after i made up my mind with no to the new bumper. i dont know why i didn't realize that then and there., most likely because i was actually conisider the bumper.
i told th dealer i was going to come back today and get if they gave me 16.5 and walked out... they called but didn't give me the deal... i might show up tomorrow and see how things go with this new angle,

I have some time left on my CARFAX so I ran the VIN for you and it came back clean. The car was a lease turn in and it originated in MA. Cafax estimated that you have 6 months or 15,445 miles of warranty left. So if you get this car you need to make sure you check all TSB's and anything else that could need warranty work. If you want a copy of the carfax report let me know and I will send you a copy.
I say keep your ground and tell them 16.5 otd. With how crappy the auto industry is right now, they should be begging you do take it off your hands. Don't be afraid to make them sweat it out a couple of days. You need to act like a hard *** as if you don't really need the car, and you are doing them a service by buying it from their dealer (not the other way around). Just a fyi we had a bad experience with Star a few years back, so we ended up buying a Nissan dealer in Countryside.
Have you tried Fields Infiniti in Glencoe up the road (we bought our G35 from them)? They have a good selection of pre-owned G35's.

thanks for that, but the site shows the carfax already there.
but one thing i didn't know was the warranty.
i always tell them i'm coming the following day but i never show up, since i live so close to star, i just kinda walk in when i'm in the area. thats what i've been doing. I'm walking in tomorrow and putting down 16.8k as my final offer and walking out if i even hear the word no. I'll post back if i'll be
in a g35 or still driving in my 4th gen maxima for a little more.

these guys are interesting...
so i talked to a manager since my salesman wasn't there. i put down 16.8 on the table and walked out.
i get a call from the salesman and i told him what happen and he told me the manager put on a "NEWISH bumper" and is now wanting 17.5 OTD. I guess he was fed up with me using that bumper as leverage.
I still put down my offer of 16.8k.
on a side note, when i talked to the owner in the morning, he looked it up and i saw on the screen and he later showed me. the screen stated " cost of inteventory" of the car and it was like 15xxx. so according to that sheet he isn't making ANY money selling it to me for anything less then 17.4 but he is giving it to me 17.2, so i think that 15xxx is the cost + the market up already.
either way looks like i'm going to pass on the car unless they call me at the "END OF THE MONTH "

I can't tell from the pics the condition of the rear bumper, but there is a detail shop on Niles Center Road in Skokie called Lucky's that also does painting. My friend's RL bumper was scuffed in the library parking lot last Fall, and they painted it for $300. They did a hell of a job too. Anyways, if they really did indeed put on a "newish bumper"(which I highly doubt), tell them to put the old one back on, offer 16.5k and get it repainted at Lucky's.

17.2k is what they want, +400 for the NEW bumper installed.
all together 17.6k is what they wanted.
i wanted 16.5k as the car sat. I never really wanted the bumper fixed i just made a HUGE fuss over it. i know i can pick up a used one on ebay sometimes for 100$ if its locally, or get one for $300-400 on my own painted and i'll install it. But i was gonna live with it.
Now that they got a newish bumper installed they want a firm 17.6k for the car. I simply said 16.5 with the new bumper is my FINAL offer. I never asked them to fix anything, they went ahead and did it and i'm sure not going to pay for it.
i got a call today from the salesman, he just called to tell me the car is STILL there... i'll give him a call sometime middle of the week and tell him 16.5k
I would back out. OR Ask them how much they want for the new bumper and then show what you could have done it for. If they will match your offer plus what you were willing to do it might be a deal.
Worst case, leave your number and back out. I would bet they will call...
