M45 19's - Did I Pay Too Much?

Hey guys,

I bought a set of M45 19" wheels from ebay. They came without tires and I'm not even sure at this point whether they are coming with TPMS sensors. From what I know, they don't have any scratches or bends as this store takes trade-ins from customers who want new wheels.

The "Buy It Now" price was $1495 but I offered $900 which they had accepted. The grand total came to $980 with shipping. Below is the link to the auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

What I want to know is, did I get ripped off or was it a decent deal?

All comments would be appreciated, but please try to keep the flaming to a minimum .

well, there are 2 ways to look at whether you got a good deal. One is based on the price new, and the other on what is regarded as a fair price used.

Are they in good condition?

imo:
If they are anything like g35 coupe 19s, they are forged and cost about $1000 new or $4000+ tax for a full set. However, they sell for around $600-$1000 used depending on condition and whether they have tires and need to be shipped(this can add to the price taking you to $1000 or a bit more).I believe those M wheels have been selling pretty high b/c of popularity, so my guess is that while that is not a great price, you did ok. You paid $245 shipping included per wheel, not great, not bad either. Just buy tires and be happy nobody outbid you!

btw, you sliced through their markup like a fat kid eating cake!

They are not forged but I think you got a good deal, but you should have tried and lowballed them first.

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys.

Most of what everyone said so far made me feel the deal was decent.

Texan - I am quite happy that I wasn't outbid... a potential buyer with an 04 G asked a question on ebay who I'm sure wanted the wheels just as badly. If he's around reading this post

FlyingLumpia - I was thinking just that earlier. Maybe I should have made an offer of $700 which I believe is reasonable. I guess there's no looking back now

don't think like that. People deserve to make a little bit of money for the hassle of shipping them to you (it is a hassle) ie..they could have put a local p/up only status on that. I think it was fair--they may have held onto them for a bit compromising you purchasing them when someone else would have come in and offered $850 or $900.

$900 isn't that bad for these wheels, I sold my set that was basically brand new for $1800 with tires a year ago...

Fair deal but the cost of new tires is the killer. They are sweet wheels either way.

If they are mint condtion its not a bad deal.

But ive seen them go on these forums and ebay for around 1000-1200 with tires too...

And 19" tires are pricey for decent ones

not for kumho ecsta spts--they grip, they handle great, good ride, low noise, great tread pattern, good rating #s, good size variety and good price.

Good ratings and prices seem reasonable from the information I've found so far on those tires. Will have to check them out. Thanks for the info

Good price as far as I'm concerned.

I've been thinking about these wheels lately and would've probably pulled the trigger at this price.

I ran the SPT's for quite a while, 245/40/18 and they were the only tire to give my 20k miles. However, the sidewall was a bit soft, transient response was very confusing, and they had no straight-line grip in anything under 70 degrees ambient. I could be cruising along in 2nd, and stab it at 4000 rpms, and just spin the tires all the way into third at 3/4 throttle.

IMHO, considering they aren't forged and the offsets are ginormous, the price is on the high side.

But what's done is done. Put some nice tires on them and enjoy. They look great.
