Nrg Hood Shocks
Hey guys, I hate to resurrect an old thread but, before a I buy a G35 sedan, I want to know if this mod also fixes/prevents the OEM hinges from bending and causing paint damage to the hood and fenders. If anyone can chime in on this, I'd appreciate it.
No. Ensuring the hood hinges are lubricated will prevent them from bending.
these omit the hinges. As long as your hood is aligned there wont be any rubbing
"omit" was the wrong term... alleviate, augment, whatever description is best used to indicate it lessens the strain or force on the hinges...
seems that when the weight of the hood is assisted by the dampers, the hinges as less prone to stress/bend/fail... I could be wrong - but I've never lubed the hinges, and haven't had a problem (probably will now that I mentioned it
)
However, I have had the hood misaligned and rub the fender (not from bent hinge though)... so as long as the hood is alined straight, there should be no problems with dampers.
