Service Code 0442 next step? Help please
Own a 2003 G35 sedan
I did the self diagnose, and got engine code 0442
first thing the service manual refers to is the gas cap. I tighten up, and reset the ECU. But it has come back now 3 times. Could be the gas cap need to be replaced. Just wondering if anybody has experienced this code and what was at fault. The service manual list many other things other than the gas cap.
I have 190,000KM or 118,000miles how ever you want to look at it.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Is this a new recall?
I had the cam and fuel hose recall completed last November. I guess I should take it in to get it checked out. Or maybe just buy a new gas cap and see if t goes away. Just don't want to waste the money on a gas cap if it isn't that

I got a similar code long time ago, and I started up a thread about my experience with it:

Basically it turned out to be a loose gas cap. I retightened it and the SES light went away after something like 100 engine start-ups. Just be patient and it should work the same way for you hopefully.

I had the same problem until my friend who is familiar with the problem suggest maybe I apply some type of (silicone or WD40) the rubber gasket on the gas cap, because it could be dried up and won't make contact with the filler neck, causing the SES engine light.
