Just bought 03 Sedan w 97K, what maint should I do?
My mom just purchased an 03 sedan with 97k on the clock. I would like to give it a good once over to make sure this car will give her trouble free service for a few years. I was thinking an oil, tranny, and diff fluid change would be a good starting point. What is the recommended tranny fluid change interval? How about the diff? Does the tranny just use standard ATF or do I need to use Nissan specific fluid? What fluid does the diff take? Sorry for the questions, car didn't come with a manual.
What else should I look for? Anything else you would recommend doing?

anywho, focus on fluids, belts and misc.
Change oil, flush the radiator, if u know how or pay, do the same for the tranny, I wouldn't bother the diff. Check all belts and replace if needed. Change fuel filter and eighter replace or upgrade the air filter. Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires. Check tires and brake pads and if needed replace them. Wouldn't hurt to do alignment on the wheels. Check level of the brake fluid and power steering fluid. I think that should cover most of it.
I dont know i found a coupe for $14,000 with 98k so i dont know if its worth the money right now.
one thing for sure make sure you cover as much know as you can so if somthing does happen you know you did your best to prevent it.

I would do oil chg., ATF fluid chg, diff. fluid chg., coolant change, drive belts, if battery is original--change that thing--trust me, it is very difficult to change in the parking lot of auto zone, don't learn the hard way on this. It is still hard at home as you need 2 sets of small hands and it sucks the big one. Change the air-filter, (in cabin filter too, but that is not as high priority), check the brake pads for meat, and tire tread-depth too and change as needed. When you get new tires, get an alignment. In future, when you do brakes, get new brake fluid too. Am I forgeting anything?
Oh, check the air pressure in the spare tire--with a tire pressure gauge, not your hand-gauge
Your hand gauge will say its good, but when you put your 3,000 lb car on it, it will look flat.Anything else, hmm...wash and wax it, mods.....tint
I think that's it...not sure about pwr steering fluid though

Take it to the dealer for an oil change and the complimentary 21 point inspection (or whatever it's called). They'll check over the basics and advise you what looks like it's in need of repair. Then decide what you want to do yourself or you want to have a dealer/mechanic do.
You might want to see if they have some sort of more comprehensive inspection that you're charged a little for. Perhaps they'd go through some of the areas that aren't touched by the complimentary inspection. Again, you'll make the call as to what gets fixed by whom.
At 97K, personally, I'd want it to have a thorough check out by the experts. Then I'd have a decent baseline to work from at least.

You don't have to say sorry to me, were you the same guy that said not to do the diff. fluid....well guess what, mine has been done
Brake fluid is recommended to be changed every 2 yrs or 30kmiles and you're telling me that spending $25 or so extra to get that done(complete system flush) while I had new brake pads and rotors installed was a waste? That is once in 6 yrs, please. My brake fluid is better than yours

Inspection at dealership
I think it is $110 for a full inspection at a dealership. They will let you know what you need. I have 95K on my coupe and asked if I needed spark plugs yet. The service writer said it is not due till 105K so wait till recommend service interval. I won't argue saved me the cost of doing the plugs now.
My inspection revealed the axle click problem on the rear, door actuator lock going bad... I got this inspection done before I bought the car and the owner took off $500 to cover the cost of fixing these issues.

the fawk? $25 to get ur brakes bled? were did u find that deal? last time i checked they added a one to the beginning of that number....thats very nice that u have better brake fluid then me, i dont race my g35 (unsure if u do) so my brake fluid will work just fine for now. and i know about cars with high mileage.. 43k miles LAMO...try having a 240sx with 204k miles on it and having a compression of 180 all across...
