Getting tint, 3rd brake light
Getting tint, 3rd brake light
I have the x sedan with factory spoiler and brake light. I still have the 3rd brake light on the inside of the car. How do I disconnect it? Can I remove the module altogether?

Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
Not sure about removing the module, but I had my tint guys tint the entire back glass and not leave a hole for the light to shine through. Once you disconnect the power wire from the third eye, it becomes invisible behind the tint.

Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
BTW, since you have the 3rd brake light, the "factory spoiler" was actually dealer installed. From previous posts that I've read, it's actually illegal to disable the 3rd brake light since this was a manufacturer installed safety feature. Of course, I think it looks weird with both and would probably disable the 3rd brake light too.
Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
As long as the light on the spoiler works, you're fine. You have to have a center high-mount stop light.. doesn't matter which one it is.
Maybe there is a technical legality to it, but I've never heard of a cop giving someone a ticket for that when the spoiler brake light works.

Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
I have the factory installed body & rear spoiler...
just undo the clip (screwdriver to pop the top 1/2 way, then pull out) pull down lightly to becuase the double sided sticky tape is holding the liner to the body. You will see the trunk bulb and a small clip/harness that can be undone to turn of the brake light.
easy / harmless.

Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
tThe dealer also installed a rear spoiler on my car. I asked the service guy if the brake light on the back dash was suppose to light up too and he said no it isnt, it is either the spoiler light or the brake light but never both... although I prefer to not have the light work, I have seen other Gs light work so i just want to know ...was he lying to me?

You only want one. Two looks kinda dumb. If it's a dealer-installed spoiler, they probably disconnected the harness to the third brake light. If you really wanted to, you could take down the roof liner in the trunk, find the harness plugs, and reconnect them.
Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
I was wondering if anyone had detailed instructions, maybe even pictures, to disconnect the 3rd brake light. I know some of you guys gave suggestions, but not clear enough.

Re: Getting tint, 3rd brake light
I had the same issue -
My coupe came with the "factory" 4-pc aero kit, however I found out that the aero kit is installed when the vehicle arrives at port.
Whoever installed the kit disconnected my brake light in my rear window, but did not remove the light assembly. I can remove it easy enough, but is there a cover Infiniti uses to cover up the holes?
