Does anyone know what exactly is used to spray the black part of the Nismo rear valace? I know it's not actual paint because it comes off with rubbing compound and I took mine off since it was discolored in one area. After I used rubbing compound on it , the plastic underneath is shiny and it reflects too much light making it look cheap. Whatever they use to spray that part it gives it a texture and it does not reflect much light.
My rear valace had the same look as the one in the pic below but it was discolored in one area. I'm using someones elses car as reference.

It's some kind of primer or something like that. It doesn't wash off but you can certainly even whipe it off.Originally Posted by g35freak86

strange. mine doesn't wipe off. you used harsh chemicals on it though so that will do the trick to how yours turns out. probably like a clear coat type layer on there to protect it and you got it off. that's why it may be dull
This is mine. It shines. That **** stands out. I don't like it

I dont own an 03-04, but I think that the black area was just bare plastic like the bottom of the 05-06 bumpers. The rubbing compound smoothed out the surface, and now it shines. If you want to hide it, you could sand and spray that area with matte black paint.

That's weird, mine is not like that i also don't think it should be like that are you the first owner.. if not maybe the last owner painted that part.
The rear bumper was painted before by the other owner. I have no idea why they would mess with the black part at all. But right now the black part is not painted and it's just plastic.
I'll paint it matte black and if it doesn't look good I'll sell it and buy me a new one

that's probably the answer since the previous owner got it painted and probably painted over that. The painter probably painted it all one color then he customer said he wanted the bottom black and they repainted it. I don't know what to tell you. Best bet is probably to get a new one if it bothers you that much

Sand the area down with 400 grit sand paper, then 600 grit, then spray it with black primer...then spray it with Duplicolor Bumper Coating. You definately need to do primer first for the paint to stick.
If you want it to come out looking perfect, take it to a body shop to have them paint it for you.
Good luck
