to choose prem w/wood or not.

I lost a deal on a DG/blk prem model that i had for 17.5k, it was an 05 with 40k miles.

now that dealership called me back and told me they need to push some cars out cause they bought more cars. this is a infiniti dealership,

now i'm going there tomorrow to look at these cars and if they give me the same offer of 17.5 OTD i will gladly jump on either. Me i've been looking for a prem models all the time, i'm not sure why, i just like the thoughts of having reclineing seats, dual climate, and the smart key. all things that dont matter 100% to me but like most guys here i like gadgets.

i'm looking at 2 cars.

car 1. it has the ugly wood trim, prem model, 05x, DG with a "stone interior" says the site, its black on a lighter color then tan. car has 38k miles and navi.
so to my thoughts this is a FULLY loaded with EVERY option out there.

car 2, is a silver, i guess its a BS color, graphite/black interior. 05x, NOT prem model. has a NORMAL aluminum trim. has 30k miles. I dont know what options it might have.. i dont even have a clue what options are out there that isn't going to require the prem package.

both cars are listing for 18k,

the deal that i lost was a car listing for 17k and i got 17.5k OTD so i assume 18.5K its good to go, but since they need to "blow out cars" as the salesman told me, i'm going to try and push for my 17.5 or take 18k OTD.

I just cant make up my mind, if car 2 was a prem model i would of taken it without a doubt, if car 1 didn't have that nasty wood i would of taken that. i've looked into replacement of the woody but it looks VERY costly. their is wood trim on the navi keys and i think that is the hardest to replace. everything else is just a matter of time and waiting for part outs on here or ebay. radios trims are cake to find, door handles are just as easy. shifter trim and navi unit is a dead road. only thing i can see if car 1 is EVERYTHING I want minus woody, i think i can live with it but i dont know.

if i get car 1 it has a chance to be exactly what i want because i can just remove the woody, if i get car 2, there is no way for me to get the smart key, recline seats. but 8k lower miles

help me out!!!!

* assume both cars are exactly the same condition, and they are asking the exact same price. if one is lower then the other or once has more damages then the other i'm going with that one either way.

Just ask yourself what is most important to you, premium package, mileage or wood/platnium trim. There is your answer.

Also keep in mind that you are looking for a USED CAR. If you really want to be that super particular about certain options/colors/mileage/packages than buy a new car equipped exactly the way you want it. Otherwise, realize that you really have a situation that is 6 in one, half a dozen in the other here. They are both great cars with low miles for great prices.

Good luck with either car you choose. Gs are great cars and will run forever.

^ +1. if you are unsure about both cars, walk from the deals and wait for the right car with the options you are looking for. otherwise you'll always be thinking that you settled for a lesser vehicle.

there are lots of g's out there so you're sure to find the right one, just be patient.

I disagree. Offer 16k and if they don't take it, walk and wait for the right car.

Just wait. Neither sound right for you.

Personally, I think the wood in our cars looks like ***. It also isn't all that compatible with the sportiness of our rides, imo. I've had a few cars with wood trim that worked, but they were slower and more luxurious.

I also agree, the little bells and whistles are fun; rear reclining seats, dual climate, etc. The rear AC vents are actually a little practical as well, especially with black interior.

Don't make a hasty decision you'll regret the entire time you own the car.

When I was looking I had to decide what was the most important, exterior color, interior color, aluminum vs wood, premium, ect. I knew that no way did I want wood, or the Willow interior, stone was ok but I really wanted black. I liked a bunch of colors so I ended up with a DG with Black/Alum. X with navi, premium, bose, ect. I picked it b.c of the colors first, premium was a must, navi was a bonus.

There were a lot of cars that were lower in price, but they weren't what I wanted and I know that if I settled I would be mad at myself. In the end make sure you get what you really want even if it takes a bit longer to find.

Hmmm... wait, these are G35Xs??

Was the car you had for $17.5k OTD an X?

If so, that is crazy cheap for an '05 with those miles. It really makes no sense since an '05 X with 30k-40k miles should fetch around $17k-$18k at auction. Even paying the full $18k asking would be a great deal for retail transaction. Are you sure you are talking about Xs? Or am I misinterpreting when you write "05x"??

all cars i look at are X models. i live in chicago and a normal RWD isn't exactly an option or something that i want to experience.

I'm looking at 18.3K OTD for the woody. with 37k and navi.

I think i'm going to spring for this. i do like DG, the stone interior can work for me since the dash is black and etc. its a PREM model which is greatly loved. Navi and woody is the extra and i can see them canceling each other out.

I'll look at the car tomorrow and see if its worth my time. I never saw the woody in person.

That's really an incredible deal. Either their values dropped greatly just since May or this guy is losing money. Or something is wrong with the cars. Dealer auction value of my '04 X with 34k miles and no nav was $16k just back in May. An '05 adds ~$2500. But more like $1800 with those miles. Nav is ~$500. So, back in May, an '05 X with ~35k miles and Nav would have been a bit over $18k at auction. Asking prices at dealers are still well over $20k in my area.

Whatever car you decide on insist on a free CarFax - When I was looking for my car I could not believe all the cars out there with a bad history, lemon buybacks - especially from California which has very liberal lemon laws. etc..

Also, if you do not need the premium package think about the resell value with it. I do not see many G35's without the package. The nav is not a big deal - I don't have one but I use a Garmin Nuvi 650 with the bean bag dash holder and it fits almost perfect in the door where the factory nav pops up. I have heard it works better than the factory nav unit.

Good Luck!

I'd wait and get what you want. Maybe it was because my dad's schoolboy friend's brother was a real high up at a big dealership, but a salesman at Cochran Infiniti of Monroeville got me EXACTLY what I wanted at a private dealer auction, meaning a 2006 G35x, DG ext., black int., premium package, nav., one owner, low miles. I certainly paid more than ~18k, but I did get what I wanted. Only took an extra couple weeks or two, just to line up a car then to wait for the auction to happen.

I had to wait 3-5 business days for the guys at Cochran to give it the certified pre-owned inspection as well as the dealer warranty mileage operations. It was well worth it, in my mind, for a trouble and worry free ride.
