Seat Belt Won't Retract

Was just cleaning out the car so my wife and I can go out tonight and found the rear center seatbelt all the way pulled out. I messed with it for about 10 minutes and couldn't get it to even try to retract. It will forever remain a mystery how exactly it happened (funny how the two kids that sit back there have NOOOOO idea), but has anyone had this problem and found a fix?

Looks like a new retractor/belt is only about $70 and easy to install - but I'm open to tips before I plunk down money.

Thanks!

Has it been pulled out all the way? If not pull it a bit and see if it retracts. If not pull harder and see it that works. Hope it works...

that is covered by the dealership under safety something..... anyhow they will replace it right away for free.......... My driver side seatbelt did the same thing and they replaced it no questions asked!

AudiViruz: Yup, it's out ALL the way - I pulled and yanked and cussed and it won't budge.

Tire Smoke: Thanks for the heads up! I'll take it by the dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Thanks, guys!

Sounds like it's caught somewhere or pulling it out all the way locked it. Strange. Let us know what the dealer says.

when the dealership replaced mine they said that the sensor inside the retracting mechanism had gone bad thus telling the cpu which in turns tells the seatbelt that it is retracted.............. YEA OK!? All I saw was one wire leading to the seatbelt, and yea..... I dont know if that helps..... I admit I was more happy that it worked again! LOL

Sounds like a load of BS from the dealer to me.
