Windshield washer fluid smellls like %^&#

I've recently noticed this sewage type smell and finally realized where its coming from; the windshield washer fluid. it smells horrible, WREAKS!!

I bought this 03 sedan in march of this year. what do you guys think they did to it for it to smell THAT bad? and is there a way to flush it all out so i can refill w/ clean smelling washer fluid?

There should be a stalk on the right side of your steering column, if you pull it toward you, the washer fluid will come out all over your windshield. Keep doing that until nothing comes out, then fill up the reservoir with fresh fluid. Good luck.

I would probably pull the resevoir out, and dump the fluid, and rinse it out well with a hose, then purge whatever is left in the lines.. then refill with new non-urinated washer fluid

Or if you need freshly urinated washer fluid, give me a call! It doesn't smell that bad, I promise.

Is there anything he could fill the tank with to do a second flush? without just wasting washer fluid?

my first thought was vinegar or something to clean out the lines and tank... then go through a couple of tanks of clean water, before refilling with new washer fluid...

Well, you could treat it like a coffeepot...bring vinegar and water to a boil, add about 2 tbs of baking soda. MAKE SURE it all disolves and rinse your tank with it once it cools. But if you don't get it all out (lots of clean water rinse) it could leave a baking soda residue. Baking soda is the KING of removing smells. I would try running it all out and refilling with good fluid first. IF that doesn't work then resort to other measures. Maybe fighting fire with fire is the answer - coup de grace?!?!
