No, they all work. The Maxima and the G35 both have variable capacity mufflers. Only half the pipes work at idle, but when you open up the throttle, a valve opens up inside and the other half starts blowing fumes, too.
I'm waiting for a dual-exhaust setup for the G35 Sedan that uses that quad-tip system.

Re: 2004 Maxima 3.5 SE
I was undecided about the new Max styling from the intial photo. When it debuted in person at the L.A. Auto Show, it grew on me quickly.
However, that was the same show I subconsciously decided to buy the G over the Altima.
Nissan is my favorite car company. I love what they are doing in terms of styling and performance. I appreciate what they are doing across the board as a company, and do not feel that just MY car is great. I like supporting and owning a vehicle from this family.
The Altima is a beautiful car, as is the Murano, the Z, the G, the FX, etc.
I almost decided to wait for the new Maxima, but feel very confident in my G purchase. There is a distinct step up to the Infiniti line, and to me, it is worth the price.

Re: 2004 Maxima 3.5 SE
Sorry, I said I want such a setup for my G35 Sedan. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of it's existence or future planned production. I think it would look as good as it does on the back of the Maxima. I wouldn't want a fake one for show. I'm more interested in sleepers, keeping the exterior mostly stock.
My major gripe about the Maxima is that it's getting to be too expensive for a non-luxury brand.

I know what you mean. It not worth the pirce. 35k for a top of the line SL and it only comes with 4 seat. For the same price you can go get a G35 with 5 seats and more bang for the buck plus when you get your car servised u have the option of a loaner car unlike nissan. Well I really like the exuast even if I can only two of the mufflers it would still look nice on the G and might actually improve hp.
