Uh-Oh. Took it over 4000 RPM!
This isn't a really big deal, but I took my G over 4000 RPM for the first time the other day.
I have really been driving conservatively during the break-in period, but something got into me and I stomped on it. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surpised at the power, and did not want to let off. But I quickly did, and look forward to 1200+ miles, so I can STOMP ON IT some more.

Re: Uh-Oh. Took it over 4000 RPM!
Hi,
I have had mine over 4000 a couple a times during the break in, It's hard to keep it under 4000. I was getting on the freeway the other day and I needed the speed and the next thing I new I was doing 70 in 4th at 4500, with little effort.
Long as I don't make this a practice I think the car will survive.

Believe it or not a lot of the break in time/mileage is not about the engine but the transmission that needs the breakin.

Don't worry about it dude. I had mine over 6k first week I had it. It didn't seem to mind. I think these mills need a regular spanking just to keep them in line.
J/K bros-- they need a little break-in for sure.

Only 250 miles left until Im at 1200 miles..
Ive accidentally had mine over 4K RPM about 4 or 5 times on accident.. Its hard not to when I have to drive on the interstate everyday to and from work, and no one else on the road knows how to drive but me..

The 1200 mile break in period is just a recommended guideline, its not a DO or DIE situation. If you choose to ignore it, your car will still run fine for many years. Now if you were taking it to the drag strip every weekend during that period then yes, you may run into some problems..

The ones that scare me are the dealer demo cars. After like 500-1000 mi they sell em discounted. Reduced price or not them is some hard miles. No doubt they get tach'd out on every test drive...I tached my demo out like 4 or 5 times.

There's several fellas that have bought demos- seems they're ok (altho I wouldn't). Let's hope the long term proves them alright. Makes you wonder tho. Like you said- whoever drives them max's the revs even bounces off the limiter (like I did). They get some pretty tough driving.
There is a group that believe that driving the snot out of em from the start is what you should do. I don't subscribe to that, but I guess it's done.

My 2000 Maxima SE I had before the G35 was leased as a demo with 4K miles on it. Besides one O2 sensor needing to be replaced, I never had a single problem with the car over the 3 years I had it.

I'm not worried about the engine.
Now I am up to 3 times over 4000!
Probably a good thing in moderation...
