I get this very annoying grinding noise every time I go down my driveway. When I get going down the steep part of it and my foot is starting to press down on the brake, it will shift into 2nd gear and then there will be this grinding noise for a second and the brake pedal will pulsate for just a second. Then it is fine and I cannot repeat the noise. It only happens on my driveway. And it happens regardless of time of day or whether the car is cold or has been warmed up.
I'm sure its something with the ABS, but in the back of my mind, I have a feeling it might be the AWD system. Anyone else have this problem? It's going to the dealer this week for the Clear Bra, but I thought I would hear from you all about it.
Thank you.

ABS - mine does it the worst going down my Parents steep driveway everytime I visit them. It is very mild anywhere else and it happens only occasionally.

It happens to me too. I thougth it was only happening to me and was going to get it checked.
Should I still get it checked?

I went to the dealer once about that noise. It's ABS recallibrating.

If it only happens once after each time you start the car - yes, it is normal and nothing to worry about. If it happens repeatedly during each driving session then something is wrong.

Yes... I asked the tech about this on my last service. He said it is the ABS going through a quick diagnostic (self test).

Too bad they could not set it so the self-test is less obtrusive to the driver.
