I just got my 06 G35x sedan a week ago and am itching to begin modding. I enjoy the HID setup the car has, but it lacks the colorband that my 03 cavalier with custom built projectors had.

I have yet to sell the old car, so I am looking for some advise here and have a few questions:

1- I know the 06 coupes have the projectors, but from what I gather the lens is not that good in them and most people do a replacement. First question after looking at the coupe/sedan headlights, I cannot quite tell if it would be possible to buy a set of coupe headlights and pull the projector/bezel out and get it easily mounted in the top slot of the sedan. I assume not, but look for a response from anyone here who may know.

2 - If I am going to put in a projector, would I be better to tear apart and just replace my old headlights and replace them on that car. I modified TSX projectors so they have the colorband, and they only have very small bezels right now and are painted black. Would replacing the bezel with a coupe bezel fill the hole in the sedan correctly?

3 - I have seen some of the coupes that look to have small leds in a circle right around the edge of the projector so there are around 8-10 out there I think, anyone know how they are building those? Just drilling through the stock bezel and putting them in?

 

You can retrofit projectors into sedan headlights. If you don't want to do the work and want the best of the best.. PM Ivorygt. He is the headlight/lighting Guru.

I got a 03 sedan and he did up my headlights. He retrofitted tsx projectors (that have the colormod) with e46 m3 shrouds to fill in the gaps and clean up the look.

You can retrofit a lot of different projectors onto the sedan headlights. Check out the modified headlight thread to get some ideas. If you want an idea of a sedan that has tons of Modifications done.. check out Ttranks Sedan.

You won't be able to fill the sedan gaps wit just the projector. you will need to put some type of shroud to fill the holes up

Correct if you want the LED circles and accents you will need to drill little holes where you want them and put LED's in. It's been done before.

Thanks for the reply, happen to have a pic of your lights? I would love to see the shroud in the sedan headlight. I have looked at the threads, but I have not seen any really good pics of sedans with projectors up close, or anyone that knows how the mounting goes.

I don't have much of an issue doing this myself, just try to gather all info first. I have the entire TSX setup with bulbs and ballasts etc.

In addition to that, I need to look what would need to be done for the wiring and the stock bulbs/ballasts versus using the ones I have for the old projectors.

Since you have the tsx setup already.. you're already half way there man.

PM Ivorygt and ask him info how to wire it all up. Check out his threads too. I remember he has some threads of progress he made during a retro and you could see all the wiring and how he mounted them and such

try some e46 shrouds. They are perfect

 

I have a set of coupe projectors and shroud. The projectors would not fit. I Agree with Chris, Tsx projectors and E46 shroudsis the way to go.

 

So how do you guys get all the inards of all these different headlights? Do you really have to buy complete lights for a TSX and an E46 just to get the guts?
