Window center columns

A dealer (a private dealer) that I'm talking to about buying a used G35, told me that if I wasn't happy with the center columns between the driver and passanger windows on the doors due to fading, that the dealership would replace the doors under warranty. Is this true? I'd just like a piece of mind from you guys who may know. Thanks!

I think that would be normal wear and tear and not liekly to be replaced under warranty. I would wonder why the pieces were so faded and be concerned about the history of the car. My car is outside for 12+ hours a day and the posts are not faded.

ditto, I only have the option of parking outside, and although my center columns are smudged a bit (no clue how I bought the car that way) no fading here.

hmmm... I would have never thought to be concerned about those.

Mine have been fine for 4 yrs and I don’t remember seeing any that were an issue... certainly haven’t heard of anyone having a problem.

What would have brought on a conversation like that with the dealer? I think there are many other better things to negotiate for “peace of mind”.

The truth is that the early 03 models had an issue (something about a water leak into the door pillars) - that would cause the black pillars to rust from the inside out. My local dealer explained this to me, and also explained that there is an extended warranty for all 03-06 models that covers this, by replacing the entire door - painted to match.

Thankfully I do not have this problem - as with my luck, I would have issues with the paint match or other issues that come from the door replacement.

^^^ you sure that's the "truth"?... seems to me that if it were such an issue we would have heard about it quite a bit here

Yes, I am sure. I spoke with the Service Manager at Guelph Infiniti (Kathy) Contact number; 5198229200 - and the extended warranty was issued after Infiniti Canada had many cars returning to the dealer with the door pillars rusting. They know which ones have the issue, but cover all G35's from 03-06.

As for what the OP listed - his should / would not be covered. Fading is caused by the water / rust issue I described. I would recommend ebay - and purchase the brushed aluminum or carbon fiber pillar overlays (tacky to me - but to each there own)

I wish there was an extended warranty or recall for the drivers seat rail / track. That is my only issue - and I am at 88000km (approx 55000 miles) - and they will not cover it.

by the way... if anyone has a nismo front bumper for sale for a 03/04 sedan, contact me...
