I had an issue with the driver side once but that was after I installed a set of Crawford CATs. Check the bolts...make sure they are tight. You may also need to do some bending to make sure it's clearing

I'm starting to notice a rattle after I had the coupe mid-pipe installed for about 6 months. Not sure if it is the heat shield or the mid-pipe or something else. I usually only notice it when the engine lugs a bit if I am in the wrong gear. Like if I forget to bang a downshift after slowing down and then trying to accelerate.

We thought Trey's car had a rattle on it with the heat shield when he had Crawford Cats on the car. We even took a day trip up to Doug's shop to have him look at it and try to fix it. It wasn't the heat shield. It was actually the Y pipe that had developed a rattle. There really wasn't anything we could do about it though.

If you haven't done aftermarket CATs ...it probably isnt the CAT heat shield. There is a heat shield just above the mid-pipe which needs to be bent up a little after installing a coupe middy. There is also a hanger towards the middle of the car, under the driver shaft (incase the shafter ever came loose...so it doesnt fall to the floor) that has also been known to hit the pipe of the middy when it moves...over bumps, rough shifts.

I had this on my 05 X, 25,000 miles, from PA. The NE weather basically rusted the ENTIRE exhast, minus the stainless parts like muffler/resonator. Even a piece of a bracket fell off when the tech first touched it. Infiniti won't replace it under warranty, instead they say that's considered 'typical wear for being in harsh conditions'. WTF ever...Infiniti should make an exhast that lasts more than 25k miles no matter what conditions!

Anyway, my rattle was coming from the Y-pipe heatsheild. The service manager at Bradshaw Infin in Grenville, SC used a pry bar to "put tension" on the sheild by bending it slightly. So far it's stopped the rattle I was having in park and at stoplights...low rpm's.
