03-04 vs 05-06 stock exhaust.

I am selling my 05x stock exhaust, and someone with an 04x wanted to buy it, but I have no clue about the exhausts for the 04x. Would it fit for him or would it require modifications?

I'm not sure because sometimes X's are different or the same, but in general 03/04 mufflers have different hangers than 05/06

No, I wont part the exhaust out. Then Ill be stuck with a muffler and y pipe that no one wants. Maybe a bracket can be bought like with the HKS muffler?

y-pipes are the same 03-06.

The 05/06 mid pipe fits the 03/04, and is a recommended easy upgrade. The 05/06 is lighter and slightly less restrictive. You will notice a small performance gain on the 03/04 just by swapping to the 05/06 mid pipe.

The 05/06 muffler hangs from the chasis slightly differently than the 03/04, but bolts to the mid-pipe the same. There is no other difference in the muffler itself, just the hanging method, so stick with the 03/04.

If you own a 03/04 and want to stay with a stock exhaust, I highly recommend upgrading the 03/04 midpipe to an 05/06 while staying the the 03/04 y-pipe and muffler.

As for the X vs. non-X, the exhausts are identical, no worries. Suspension mods is a different story though...

^ I always thought that the 05/06 sedan midpipe on a 03/04 sedan provides a better sound but no performance (HP) gain?

At a minimum, the 05/06 mid pipe is significantly lighter than the 03/04. I'm not sure of actual dyno differences though.

03 and early 04 midpipes are huge and restrictive. Look at the difference between this one and the 05/06. Oh and the coupe one is in the background.

Y-pipe is different on the X. RWD y-pipe will not fit X's, it'll be hitting some part, I forgot. But an X y-pipe will fit both models.
