Sedan Exhaust on Sale
#16
I dyno'ed mine before and after. It was about 9 months apart, and I never got the second dyno chart (the shop closed down soon after my second dyno), so I never posted it. It also fell in line with what most people seem to think you will gain.
I made right at 240 WHP and WTQ stock (actually 239, and w/ a Z-tube and K&N filter). With the exhaust I made a little over 248 WHP and 245 WTQ. I never overlaid the 2 graphs, but I think most of the gains were over 4k RPM. I think I probably lost a little low end torque. This was done on a dynojet.
A 05 sedan (AT) also dyno'ed with the exhaust, and I think he gained about the same (he had also added a plenum spacer w/ the exhaust on the second dyno run). He was doing his second dyno, and I did my baseline. I ended up buying the exhaust from him a couple months later, and I had my car re-dyno'ed about 6 months later. He did not feel like the gains with the exhaust and plenum were what they should have been and he had some minor fitment issues with the exhaust, so he decided to sell it.
I'll buy 10 HP/TQ to the wheels. My dyno runs (I did 3 each time) where not real consistent. I don't have either graph in front of me, but my baseline ranged from 233 to 239 (HP and TQ), and my second runs ranged from 245 to 248 HP, and from 243-245 TQ. The numbers stated above were the highest numbers from the 3 runs (it was also the third run in both cases), and all runs were in 5th gear with the exception of my first baseline run (it was in 4th, and also my lowest run at 233 WHP).
One other unrelated note about the dyno runs, and the G35 sedan. I also had a 2003 350Z dyno'ed about a year before, and it actually came in at almost identical numbers to the G35 sedan (it was at 238 WHP and 236 WTQ). It was in stock form (with a Nismo air filter) and also a 6MT. Needless to say, the 2003-2004 G35 sedan was obviously under-rated on power.

I should mention that my above testing was all done with the Stillen Gen 2 exhaust.
Edit: A couple other thing I forgot to mention. In the baseline runs I also had a coupe midpipe installed. I don't think it really matters, but it should be pointed out.... I did measure A/F on both runs, but they had a hard time getting a good reading. My baseline runs with the stock exhaust were all over the place, or did not read at all, and with the Stillen they seemed inconsistent. That was a little disappointing as it was one of the main reasons for the dyno. I wanted to see what the Stillen exhaust did to my A/F readings.

i paid less than that for mine, including shipping, brand new from stillen. i used my brother's business and tax exempt that was about 2 years ago. When i was purchasing, i actually wanted the Gen 1, they only had the Gen 2 and the sales rep told me they were not going to make any more gen 1s because it was loud. i found that very strange, but sure enough, there's the gen 1 listed. probably needed to make a sale.

I think the Sitllen's exhaust is normally 1200 these days (not sure of the exact price)... I paid nine something (I don’t remember exactly) and got free (worthless) ground wires... that was 3.5 yrs ago
All I know is the current sale price being close to what it was 2-4 years ago is a smokin' deal... and anyone thinking of getting one is silly to wait (IMO).
