our cars are pretty toned down to begin w/. i don't think you're gonna find much gain from removing parts, unless you completely gut the thing; i.e. take the rear seats out, etc.

maybe gets some light wheels and lose some weight if you're chubs.

under the hood(actually attached to the hood) under all the carpets, the firewall liner, and basically anything that looks like black tar. since this is a weight reduction thread too, lightweight wheels add up real high when you figure in rotating mass.

now to me personally, i chose a g35 for 2 reasons, i needed the sedan version of a sports car, and its alot more luxurious than others out there in the similar price range. you could do a lot of weight reduction by going cf on as many body panels as possible, take out the rear seats, new drivers seat(cf bucket) and remove the passenger.

one i highly dont suggest is to remove the bumper beams, but not only is that unsafe, but you'll also loose some rigidity. CF drive shaft could save you alot of weight as well as removing all unnecessary engine components, p/s, a/c, all emissions equipment, cruise control, and many many others....

I know we have sedans here, but there is a coupe member who has a huge writeup on his weight reduction...he truly gutted his entire rear of his car, think he lost over 100 lbs....even more?

I've lost about 30 lbs, does that count?

I think in order to make a significant difference, you'd have to make your car pretty uncomfortable, which would probably go against why most of us bought the G.

And I thought only serious cyclists did this!!!! Is it your intent to lighten the load to make the car faster (i.e., for racing)? Much of the gutting suggested here will make the car feel more like a Mitsubishi EVO. If you want light and a rally car feel, which is what you may end up with if you follow some of the suggestions listed, switch cars and look at an EVO, a Mazda 6, a or even Chevy Cobalt. Lighter and faster than many (many, not all) of our G's-- but what a huge loss in luxury, sportiness, classyiness, appeal and sexiness!

Hell, just drive in shorts, pass all gas before you get in the car, lose 10-20lbs, empty your bowels, cut your hair, don't breathe while your drive and keep your windows closed w/o AC. If all else fails, higher a jockey or have the women below drive your car.... this will be your best bet!!!

Good luck!
