Warranty Coverage
Warranty Coverage
I recently purchased a 2005 G35x with 52K miles, and the dealer certified the car up to 6 years/100k miles.
I took the car in (to the same dealership where I bought the car) for it's first oil/filter change, and the mechanic said I needed the following done:
- New Drive Belt ($225)
- Trans flush ($360)
- Coolant Flush ($160)
- Induction SVC ($190)
can anyone tell me if any of these are covered under the warranty, and if not, are these prices reasonable?
thanks!

I am not the dealership that sold you the warranty but from my experience none of those are covered under the manufactures warranty.....You could just do everything your self for less than the quoted cost of the induction service.
theyre ripping you off....my local infiniti dealership quoted me $411 for the complete 45k mile service which includes parts and labor for drive belts, transmission flush, all other fluids and filters + new wiper blades....these guys are quoting you around 600 for the drive belts and tranny flush only!!!
edit: maintenance items are not covered under warranty...

You can always DIY, but if you mess up, you have nobody but yourself to blame.
Cost vs benefit. It's your call. You can also go to a mom and pop place, but again, if they mess up, will they fix it?
On the other hand, we're nowhere near that expensive.

yes those are maintainence items which arent covered under warranty. If you want to save alittle bit go to a Nissan dealership if you have one nearby. You may not get a complimentary loaner car, but you can save upwards of 30-40% for the same exact work.
You shouldnt need a new drive belt at 52K, they should go 100K, maybe get a second opinion. Trans flush would be a good idea, along with a differential/transfer case flush. Have the coolant tested and flush if neccissary.

Thats expensive. I'd say around $400 is a good price to pay for these. Doing it yourself you'll spend ~$200

the tranny/coolant flush I figured would be my responsibility, but I just bought the car 4 months ago. at the very least, shouldn't they have fixed the belt then?
And what is "induction SVC"
And what is "induction SVC"
What is an "induction SVC"? Is that a "injector cleaning"? Never heard of that one. Of all the cars I have ever had with Fuel Injection, I have NEVER had a "cleaning" done. Never had a problem with the injection system, but I have always bought name brand mid grade or better gas.
