RDS Radio Station Messages (2005 and newer models)
RDS Radio Station Messages (2005 and newer models)
Just curious to see if anyone (particularly in the DC area with a 2005 and newer model car) has the radio built in that can display radio station messages. My concern is that when I listen to DC 101, there is no message shown. However, when I listen to 98rock and any other radio station in my area, the message appears (name of radio station, artist, track name, etc).
Is this something with the radio or with DC 101?
Does anyone else have a similar experience? I understand that I can turn the display on/off via the "DISP" button, but nothing happens when tuned into 101.1.

from my experience in chicago, some stations at times doesn't have a message.
i listen to a lot of dance music at night and its just a mix, not song or title. It normally is blank. I think maybe your radio station isn't setup right. But then again i've noticed the RDS in my g35 sucks compared to other cars, m35 i had listed the whole thing rather then a scrolling message and was more accurate, the chevy cobalt a friend had was a lot more detailed and updated compared to my car and this was a side to side test.

Curious why you're only asking about '05 or later models.
BTW there's one or two stations in my area that nothing shows up for on my system too, but 99% of the stations display station ID and Band/song title, etc.
I just figured that occasionally a station chooses not to broadcast the information, for whatever reason (i.e. lack of equipment, chose not to make the investment yet, etc.).

I mention 2005 and later b/c I thought that the 2004 models do not have that capability (at least they don't read MP3 CDs, so I figured it was all part of the same enhancement).
I vaguely recall seeing messages scroll for DC 101 in the Lexus RX 330 (2004 model).
Perhaps it's attributable to your range from the station tower?

okay, well then, I stand corrected....
but the question still remains, what is the cause of this?
A.) Bose
B.) Infiniti
C.) Radio Station
D.) Distance from tower

some CD's RDS will not work or will no scroll. i've found that out. or MP3 discs will not scroll. something or another. i never have paid detail attention, just know it does not scroll

. I've always thought that the RDS work only if I subscribe to satellite radio. Thanks guys
