Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
Still minor cosmetic changes...doesn't make me wish I had waited for the '05 instead. BTW - just noticed that they switched positions for the tach and the speedo...and the reason for that would be?????? I'm sure the most significant change for the '05 is the increased HP-lb./ft., and with some minor mods like many of us have already, we're probably right there anyhow (or close enough ;-). In addition, I wonder if Infiniti will raise the prices a bit on the '05...something for people to think about if they're considering getting a good deal on an '04.5 or waiting til the '05s arrive in Oct.
I'm in agreement with most everyone else...still very pleased with the '04.5 G35!! ;-)

(basically Sport Package w/o stiffer suspension), Darkest Tint (this is FL afterall), Z Tube, K&N Filter

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
The interior is okay nothing to serious to worry about unless they change the navi controls completely and make it voice activate to differenciate it from Nissan cars and to make it better compete with the Acura TL. What I really want to know is the full story of the hp and how much hp the coupe and sedan are actually getting at what we can do to update the engine/transmission to get the more power. Good thing about the engine update should be you can get the parts from Infiniti and not have a warrently issue. That be sweet close to 300hp in the sedan, M3 watch the hell out!!
Does any one know the specs for the 05 350z?

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
Ok, well not as I thought it would be.
IMHO:
1- The clock looks much nicer where it was before! But I like the bigger HVAC Read Outs.
2- Though unergonamic, the push button Volume and Temp. keys were nicer and more stylish than the rotary switches shared down the line with Altima!
3- I've noticed a new Bose HU, which I think supports MP3! As you zoom close to the left of the HU right beside the Tune button, there is a vague "MP3" printed right underneath what appears to be a Compact Disc logo.
4- Again on the BOSE HU, What the hell happened to the SAT button?! I surely hope they didn't integrate SAT in to the RADIO button! Like you didn't have enough cyclying through AM and FM alone!
5- Again on BOSE system, another sign that cassette tapes are dead as they have obviously omitted the slot in favor of lower cost maybe?
6- I think there is a good possiblity of price increase over the 04s.
7- Gauges look fantastic! Great styling and way more "SkyLine" like than the old ones. Well done Infiniti!
8- Last but not the least, extra 17 HP and 10 Torque is obviously a + but probably at the expense of worse fuel economy and chances are they have a minimal impact, in the range of mili seconds on the stock times.
I think it's now a good time to start looking for a great deal on a 2004!

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
LOL, yeah no one on the board believed me when I kept talking about the 21" rims they gave our FX. I busted out the tape measure and digital camera to prove my point, too.

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
I'm curious to test out the 2005's 6MT shifter.
"In addition, the manual transmission design on both coupe and sedan models has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort."
Sometimes it really doesn't want to go from 5-6 at high speeds. And it doesn't like to downshift to 2nd gear either.

gee am i glad i got the 2003.5 sucks to have to buy an ugly *** 2005.
whats up with the interior? it looks so nasty with those *****. and ill bet the JDM double din aluminum center must cost an arm and a leg. i dunno, this whole 2005 design just doesnt work for me.
as for 277 hp, the sedan already has that...no big news, they just updated the numbers. but 295 for the coupe...thats a bit high isnt it? im curious to know how they did that. wont that make the 350Z look a bit bad? cant wait for the new engine upgrade info to leak out so we can start modding....even though im at 300 in my sedan already. Muahahahaa. i dare you Infiniti, just try to keep up. muahahaaa.

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
nuttyprof what makes you say that the sedan is currently at 277hp? I think Infiniti did add at least a upgraded intake and maybe even ecu to get a few extra hp and tq? I would not be suprised to see these new parts even help your auto gain more hp. I am just waiting to see what the 350Z gets and what the real updates are and save my money for these new parts if they are giving more hp.

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
21.5" wheels on my FX35???? ...very interesting. I haven't measured yet, but if that's accurate, why would Infiniti say they're 20" wheels? Were they afraid it would sound too "bling bling" if they said it has 21" or 21.5" wheels? Whatevery they are, they look good, IMO. Our neighbor has an FX35 without the Sport package (compared to ours with the Prem, Sport, and Tech), and it just doesn't look as good with the 18" wheels.
Now, I love my 17" Infiniti 5 star sport wheels on my '04.5 G35 sedan, but it would have looked a little bit better if they were 18" wheels instead. It's funny because it seems to me that a 1" difference in wheels is minor, but a 2" difference in wheels is very significant. If the picture of the '05 G35 is accurate, I am not impressed with the design of the 18" wheels, but many may like them; very BMW looking.

You guys like the trim piece that runs across the entire dash where the seam is for the upper shelf? I noticed it looks like it isn't flush all the way across. This interior looks more nissan like (which is good based on thier great new interior design) but I would only like the new guages please and how about some oil and batt guages - did i miss those somewheere it's early?

Re: "Official" 2005 Changes
Goodness, as much as I want to say it wasn't that much that was upgraded, I really want one. It is actually kind of depressing to think I bought my car a few months ago and now there is going to be a more powerful, better interior car coming out in a few more months. If I had bought a 2003 car back a while ago then this would be okay, but oh well, that's life.
At least this better beat the new TL hands down and hopefully it will beat the new BMW 3er (E90) coming out in December.
