The all too familiar rattles

I'm sure every one of us G drivers (coupe and sedan) has experienced a fair bit of rattles throughout the interior of ours cars. I read DaveB's thread on exorcizing sedan rattles which helped me fix the rattles I am hearing in the doors and rear parcel shelf but I have one more that is driving me nuts. It's a clicking (almost sounds like something is rotating) that is coming from what I believe is the center of the dashboard. I had my clock/climate control trim out today to change the bulbs and this clicking was even louder so I'm sure it's back there somewhere. The odd thing is it will make the sound even when the car is not in motion depending on what RPM I'm in. I'm sure the drone caused by the coupe midpipe is the cause but I want to know what exactly is vibrating so that I can soften it with some felt.

lol, the radio certainly does help but when I hear the creaks I turn off the stereo to listen for them and it slowly drives me nuts. I spent a good 30min drive from work the other day listening for my dash. What the heck could it be? It's not just plastic rubbing together as this noise occurs under certain rpm's when the car isn't even moving.

heh idk man.. if its coming from inside your dash i would just take it to the dealership and make them drive it.. i think it would drive me more crazy trying to find the rattle then actually hearing it

take your center dash apart. It should only take 30 min to get it completely apart. I've done it 100 times. You could have something down there rattling. I had dropped a tiny screw from the clock that got down between the radio and the navigation. It would vibrate at certain times. I would turn the stereo up but I knowing it was mentally was very unsettling.

Can the upper dash be taken apart without getting at the center console? I've taken the lower dash apart before and it was not terribly entertaining.

You will need to take apart the glove box, and the trim piece on both sides of the center console. remove the lower center console. remove the clock trim piece. then a few more screws and it should all pull out.

All in all I think that there are like 15 screws you have to remove, the rest just snap into place. I think the hardest part is the lower center console with the seat warmer plastic clips you have release without breaking them. Other than that it is all very simple.
