I'm still open in the electric fan mod. I just haven't seen any conclusive data that it actually adds power. If you know something I don't, post up. Hell, just post up your install and opinions

Amen, to the wanting power from "real" parts.

Lets Summit this to Myth busters and find out the truth
Great idea! We should submit all of the controversial mods and Mythbusters could do a mod themed show. I'd love that!

FYI - I just did a quick search on the Mythbuster's web site and didn't see any idea submissions for a performance mod themed show. There was one submission about intakes and throttle body spacers but I don't think it would hurt to put a more comprehensive list of mods together and create another submission thread. If anyone wants to help me put a list together, I'll volunteer to submit the idea (DaveB? others?).

I'll throw out a few ideas, feel free to chop:

Intakes - CAI, RAM, etc.
Grounding Wires (JPN vs. US vs. UK car impact)
Engine Dampers
Brake System Master Cylinder Dampers
Throttle Body Spacers (i.e. Vortex)
High Performance Spark Plugs
Light Weight Pulleys
Light Weight Rims

I guess we could add things like plenum spacers, exhaust mods in the hopes that they might put a "best bang for your buck" list together?

I know it's a long shot but it's not much more effort than a cut, paste, edit, submit.

Great show.... but still ratings generated! Mythbusters hardly would count as empirical science outside the fan base. I think they do debunk some popular myths, but the jury is out on the reliability and validity of some of their findings. It seems that the bottom line is that there is yet no real "science" or evidence to suggest that these grounding kits are what they purport to be.

Yes and no, I love the show, but they don't know jack about cars. I watched on yesterday where they tested several "Mileage myths". They busted all of them (Magnets on gas line, Super carb, etc.) however they also busted a Hydrogen gas cell. I know for a fact that they DO work. I have 3 friends in this area that have built their own and have increased their mileage by almost double. One F-150 Ford pick up went from 15 mpg to 24 mpg and as he make improvements in HHO production, it's going up.

The system the MB tested made VERY few HHO bubbles. The one my friend has makes so much Hydrogen and Oxygen that he has to put a Safety Relief Valve on it. I just blasts HHO out the tube.

So, I would rather have someone that really understands cars do the testing. Like one of the "Major" car mags. I think "Turbo" magazine did some ground wire testing on dynos a couple of years ago.
