Hey guys i've recently been checking out exhausts and mid pipes (coupes) .. I've ran across some information that i would greatly appreciate if some people clarified.

1) Are coupe/350z mid pipes relatively useless for an 2006 g35X? I heard the mid pipe is only a real gain for 03-04 models..
2) Do they make an HKS sport exhaust for a g35x.. i've only found them for RWD..?
3) other than the HKS exhaust (im only looking for axle-back) what other axle back exhaust would create the best sound (not exactly the loudest, but louder wont hurt either =)) Im looking for a clear deep noise..

 

Question 1. there is no gain just sweet sound from the midpipe and it works for 05/06 X also with no problems.

Question 2. you can use the HKS muffler on the 05/06 sedan, you just need special brackets to make it fit since the muffler was made for 03/04 sedans and there is no difference if you have RWD or AWD it fits fine.

Question 3. HKS is the best sounding if you go with just a Coupe midpipe and HKS.

 

I've been told that people with 2006 g35 dont even notice a new sound with the mid pipe... also HKS sport says on the website its made for 2003-2006.. what kind of extra attachments would i need to put it on my 2006 g35x?

 

it's a bracket that you need, call up riverside infiniti 1-888-740-7744 ask for Tony and tell him your buying HKS muffler for 05 G35 Sedan and need bracket to make it fit.

 

You do need that bracket, man. You will see why once you get the muffler up there!

I have the coupe middy and HKS and i think it sounds pretty badass. Id recommend it.

 

coupe middy on an 05/06 sedan doesn't do anything, if not, very very little. If you want to save some dough, jsut get the HKS. You WON'T be dissappointed. I have an 03 sedan with HKS and coupe middy. AWesome sound. One of the best i've heard for us sedan owners

if you go down to post #84 it shows you the exact part numbers for the brackets you need to make it fit 05-06. i still have it bookmarked waiting for christmas money to come in to buy the hks. heard it in person recently. you wont be disappointed. great sound

 

Ok so like i said ive been getting different responses from different people that contradict one another.. I am def going to get the hks exhaust no questions about it.. but is the coupe mid pipe a waste of money and effort if im driving an 06? Also everyone who said get the hks exhaust - are you guys talking about the whole cat back or just the muffler (axle back)?? Will the hks axle back exhaust sound just as good without a mid pipe? or does the mid pipe add anything to the sound for an 2006

The midpipe makes a better sound with HKS muffler, deeper sound none rice noise. The HKS is just a muffler.

 

ya by deeper i mean more hollow.. something like the exhaust sound on FX models

Ok from what i researched i found out the 05/06 midpipe on sedans is just as good as the coupe one and in some cases better.. It was said that most people would like to have the 05/06 sedan mid pipe on their 03/04 but its harder to get mid pipes from a sedan... Can someone post the sizes comparing the 03/04 coupe mid pipe compared to the 05/06 sedan mid pipe.

Compare sizes why??? You have 06 your mid pipe is already good, just get the HKS(just muffler) and see how you like it ACE

 

the coupe midpipe does make it sound better.
