Does anyone have a roof rack for thier sedan? If so how well does it fit? does it need to rest against the paint?

 

I too am curious if anyone bit the bullet and bot the factory Infiniti rack bars? Damn pricey ($299 msrp), but at least they are designed to fit into the sedan's door notches perfectly and can accept many accessories. Last I checked, Thule and Yakima systems still didn't have G sedan specific clips?

I thought Yakima came out with the towers and clips for the sedan last year?

Yakima lists Q-Towers will fit sedan with the "Q-35" clip (good choice of numbers, huh?) For some reason the Yakima website lists it for the 03 sedan, but not the 04. However, I would assume same fit for the 04. I'd also be curious if anyone has tried this. I've been watching ebay for a set of the clips (no urgency as usually just use the yakima rack on wife's Honda Pilot).

The roof rack sold by Infiniti is Thule, they have a G35 SEDAN-specific kit. Of course Infiniti dealerships don't stock it, so I bought mine last week from a bike shop here in San Diego. Works great for bikes and snowboards so far!

i purchased the thule kit (loadbars+snowboard rack) for my 03 for $300

 

I bought the rack (foot pack, load bars, fit kit) for $199. Two bike carriers later it was $350. Locks are extra. It is a much better deal to buy it from a retailer, I bought mine at Bicycle Warehouse/Autorack Shack.

i just bought the q35 clips for my yakima (exported from my 99 maxima se).

i have a 2004 g35x and i'll let everyone know how it fairs.

I put pieces of the clear bra material where the rack goes (did it on the last car too) and should be good to go.

Performancebike.com sells a Thule-compatible XPORT system (seems like it was made by Thule) complete for $159. I used this on my last car and it was great. They should have specific mountings to fit the G. I used this on my last car forever and it was great. Gotta figure out how to put on clear-bra to make sure and not mar the paint before I put it on the G.

BTW - Instead of buying the additional XPORT fairing for road noise, get the actual Thule fairing - the XPORT one will crack on you.

no go on the clips. didnt fit perfectly. i could probably work them a bit to make them fit perfectly but not sure if its worthwhile.

trying to decide what to do now. snowboarding season is a while away for us in the northeast. maybe yakima will have better fitting clips by then.

The Thule kit #2118 works fine on my 2004 sedan! The mounting locations are marked clearly on the factory car (indentations in the roof rail). Stick with Thule or the Infiniti accessory (while is Thule) and you'll be fine!
