LOL, I have a full size pickup bike rack, but no longer have a full size pickup! I wonder how hard it is to raise the bike to the roof without scratching something g35 Christine?

Re: Roof rack

Noremac,

Does the Thule mount in the roof rail or is there a clip that comes around to the door jamb?

Re: Roof rack

Sorry, my words above were confusing. The Thule foot does wrap down around the door jamb, and only a rubber pad rests on the roof rail above. The first time you install it is a learning experience, but the next time was <10 min. It makes an incredibly tight connection!

Re: Roof rack

noremac - are you using the new Thule 400XT Aero feet? If yes, how's the wind noise?

Re: Roof rack

Yes, I have the 400XT Aero's. AFAIK, that's the only thing that Thule sells now.

Since I've only used them a couple of times for short trips hauling flat packages, I can't tell you much about the wind noise. I don't remember it being terrible, but I wasn't paying too much attention. When I finish hauling something, off they come anyway!

who said roof racks...!

My 6yr old Thule. Just got a new fit kit and it fits just fine.
Always get the aero spoiler - cuts down wind noise big time.
Anyone wanna ride???

Re: Roof rack

erok,

Thanks for the heads up on the Q clips not fitting the 2004 G35x. I sent an email to Yakima asking when they'll be available - I'll let everyone know what i find out.

Re: Roof rack

So I broke down and took my car to REI here in town. We took the equipment that Yakima specifies for the 2003 out and test fit it to my car - seemed to fit perfect.

So I took it all home and actually tightened it down.

Everything fits great and I've been driving around with it now for approximately a week. The only problem I've found so far is incredibly bad wind noise in the specified Infiniti location - I'm going to try moving it closer to the windshield this weekend, and then I'll probably buy the fairing as well.

Bottom line - IMO the 2003 equipment will work for the 2004.

Hope this helps - Rich

Re: Roof rack

I would leave it where it is supposed to be for several reasons and try the fairing. It is still going to make noise, but the fairing does work.
