Midpipes regarding 05/06 Sedans only

Ok so I've been trying to get a straight answer for awhile now and it doesn't seem like people are 100% sure.

1) Will there be a significant noise difference between my stock midpipe or a coupe mid pipe?
2) Is there any reason why I should keep the stock mid pipe over the coupe mid pipe?
3) I understand the coupe mid pipe does wonders for the 03/04 gen... Does anyone have an 05/06 sedan with a coupe mid pipe and no other work done to the exhaust? If so did you really notice a difference.. and was it worth getting the coupe mid pipe..

P.S. From what i understand more people want the 05/06 sedan midpipe over the coupe one..

P.S.S i am NOT looking for a louder sounding exhaust, just a deeper nicer sound.. i understand the coupe has a smaller resonator so it will be louder. I just need clarification if it is worth getting a coupe mid pipe on a 05/06 Sedan

Yes.

03/04 guys (and girls) covet the 05/06 middy cuz it will make their sedans a little more aggressive sounding since they have smaller exhaust canisters. To make your 05 louder, a coupe middy will do the trick.

And since I provided the clear and definitive answer, you should send me your 05 middy asap.

If only the sedan exhaust sounded a little more like the coupes or FX's did. I think they sound sweet.

I'm afraid to change anything on my exhaust. I'm very picky on what I want the sound to be like. If anything, i would be trying to mimic the coupe/FX exhaust note without increasing loudness at all.

Anyway...subscribing to thread for more info

Um.. I know its gonna be louder.. that still didnt answer my question.. and yes Mustang5L5 i want the FX sound.. The question still remains.. is it worthwhile getting a coupe mid pipe for my 2006 G35x.. I am getting the HKS sport exhaust for a nicer sound also..

That question is for you to answer. The coupe middy will slightly alter the exhaust note. It will be your job to decide if thats something you think is worth while.

Isn't the 05-06 midpipes exactly the same as the coupes?

The resonator is different. This is also the only differene between all the factory mid pipes (except for the 350z, which is physically shorter).

Here is a post that speaks to the 05/06 vs the Coupe midpipe. I've got the HKS paired with my stock midpipe (05) and it sounds sweet IMO.

The reason the midpipe sounds better is because the resonator is designed to work with the muffler design on the sedan and not the crossflow muffler design of the coupe and Z.

I currently have the 05/06 sedan midpipe in my 03.5 sedan, and it already sounds deeper than with the stock 03.5 midpipe. I'm planning to install the HKS exhaust this weekend hopefully, and I'm sure that paired with the 05/06 midpipe will sound pretty damn sweet (maybe almost the same as that from CandlestickPark's setup).

SO then us 05/06 owners should stop worrying about mid-pipes and focus on mufflers instead??

I've spent hours on youtube listening to exhaust. Still can't find one that gives that FX exhaust note without being too loud

Ok well my mind is made up.. basically all the people who told me "YES get the coupe mid pipe" were drivers of an 03/04 where it makes sense for them to get it... and all the 05/06 say the exhaust made it perfect.. so in conclusion

05/06 Sedans should keep the midpipe.. it's a waste of money and effort (considering you have to bend the heatsheild, and replacing half of those rusty bolts) so I am ordering my HKS exhaust sometime next week

Thanks to everyone who answered my question.

The G35C/350Z/FX muffler is specially designed and is really the only one that will produce that beautiful note. It will not fit on the sedans unless you want to do alot of modifications. You may come close with an aftermarket but it just wont be the same.

Yea man forget the coupe mid pipe.. just a waste of money and effort for us.. lets focus on some nice exhausts to come close to the FX sound.. but from what ive seen/heard/researched, i think im going to go with the HKS sport..

Btw heres a video which is pretty funny.. this guy is running a coupe mid pipe and NO muffler... car sounds beastly hahaha
