6MT phased out???

I am working with local fleet auto sales company on getting a 2004 6MT sedan. Nothing meeting my specs was available, so we went to look at ordering one. The supposed scoop from an infiniti is that the 6MT will be phased out of the sedan with 2004 (i.e. not available in 2005) and that this is the last month that you can order a 2004 sedan with one. Can anyone here confirm this?

Re: 6MT phased out???

This "info" sure seems to fly in the face of the recent Infiniti press release regarding their 2005 models, which clearly states they will have a 6MT model. Also, they are selling a HELL of a lot of 6MT's, so what does that do to their sales figures? And, one of the main reasons the car remains the "darling" of the auto magazines is the availability of the 6MT and the performance it offers - so no way!

They MAY be referring to a cutoff date Infiniti has imposed for ordering 2004 6MT's, but I can't believe the MT will not be available in the 2005 year models!

The 6MT WILL be available on 2005 models, but not until later. Auto builds start in a couple of months with October delivery, and 6MT builds will then start with delivery in December.

Keep in mind, that dealers will say stuff that will make you anxious about buying car as soon as possible. Last fall I went to Subaru delaer and he said that "STI is a limited production and will be out of production within few month".

Not necessarily they are lying in your case, though.

The guy that gave you this misinformation is a douche, similar to the likes of "hack" John Edwards. (the pseudo-psychic phony fart nose)

Re: 6MT phased out???

Got more clarification. They are stopping production on the 04 6 speed sedans. This is the last month to order. For 05, each dealer will get a 6MT demo car and that is all. Customers will need to order the car if they want it, and it will come with pretty much every option. (although if you have to order it, you should get it how you want it). The reasoning is poor sales with the 6MT sedan, so they are trying to make it more exclusive. Whatever.

Re: 6MT phased out???

There's definitely something like that going on. My wife just leased an 04 6m/t sedan this week and got a great deal (I have my own 03 6m/t coupe) - anyway, the dealer, who I've known for years, told us they've raised the residual, lowered the money factor, and incented the dealers to sell below dealer invoice on the 6m/t sedan. He also told us there are no special deals on the all-wheel drive models, which are selling like hotcakes. They are looking to further reduce an already low inventory of 6m/t sedans. By the way, my wife is turning in a 540i 6 speed, which costs us almost twice as much as her new G on the monthly lease payment, and she likes the G better.

Bluestreak

What was the residual, money factor and length (24,36, or 39 month) for the lease you were quoted?
