Slight steering creak - ideas?

Hi - '05 G35, 47K miles. Noticed a slight creak in the steering column, usually when the car is cold and I turn the wheel more than 180 degrees. I've never really noticed the problem once I get going. The sound seems to be coming from inside the cabin, not outside. Any ideas? I had thought compression rods, because everyone seems to have problems with them, but I honestly don't even know what compression rods are and what the symptoms of a bad compression rod are. Thanks.

Sounds like the dust boot in your steering column may need to be lubricated. The same scenario happened to one of my previous cars.

There is some kind of spring in the steering wheel (I beleive it is called a clock spring, I could be wrong). Mine used to do the same thing, and I got the spring in my steering wheel replaced under warranty and no issues since.
