when to get an oil change when you go with amsoil 0w-30

hey guys just put the amsoil 0w-30 in. car seems to be running smoother. ive heard so many stories about changing oil every 3k or 6k. amsoil recommends changing oil every year or so. how long do u think i should wait for my next oil change?

I run 0-w30 in my G along with a AE013 filter. My brother runs the same in his Maxima and we do oil changes every 6 months. I only drive about 4-5k in that time. We figured that we would half there time to change it just to be safe.

Good advice. I run mine about 6250 miles (10,000 km) between changes. As has been discussed at length in this forum, the only way to tell how long to run your oil for your car in your driving conditions is Used Oil Analysis. But 5k miles should be very safe, I've read some guys are running 7500 miles and even that is conservative IMO.

Are you running the Amsoil AE filter or another brand? If other, you should probably change the filter halfway through whatever mileage interval you choose.

7.5k / 1yr... I would get an analysis done after that and if it they say the oil is still good and the wear is low, run it longer.

If you can afford it, use it, otherwise any other full synthetic will hold up fine for 7500k/6month under normal/severe driving conditions (excluding track use). The amsoil comes with more anti-wear additives and bases to neutralize acidity. This allows you to use the Amsoil for a longer period of time. The 0w30 actually has so many anti-wear additives, that it does not contain the API starburst.

If you're local, I can get you 5qts signature series 0w30 and an amsoil nano-fiber oil filter for under $70

They're around $20 + shipping for a basic analysis, and $30 + shipping for one with a TBN count. These are the prices if you go with blackstone labs, there are other places that can analyze your oil also (even give you particle counts if you are interested in that).
