Re: Real Aluminum trim

gdupg35... can't wait to see your aluminum kit. that grey wood doesn't look as overkill as the lighter wood (in ABQ_tom's post). but it's strange that their kit doesn't include wood for the door pull (i see titanium trim on it).

Re: Real Aluminum trim

That sure looks like it does wrap around the console, hope it does. When did you order the kit? I looked on their site, under "molded dash kits" and Infiniti wasn't on their list, post a pic when you get it. That example looks like it's "black wood", looks nice!

Re: Real Aluminum trim

I ordered it about a week ago. It has already shipped and I should be receiving it next week. Since I have the 6mt, it seems unlikely that the console piece will wrap around, but it is a possibility. At least it is a much smaller piece than on the 5at. It does suck that they don't have the door pulls on the aluminum kit though.

That pic looks like "black wood" trim, not aluminum or titanium, I have seen that "wood" on a car somewhere, not sure where though.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

ABQ_tom... heh, we're talking about the door pull being of a titanium/aluminum trim (look at the pic insert on the bottom right), but the rest of the car has wood.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

Well.... I got the POS that they call real aluminum today. The pieces are paper thin stickers and they look like complete dookie. I tried a few of them on, and not only did they not stick at all, but they also were cut incorrectly. The stereo controls were off by more than 1/2", and even the smaller pieces didn't line up for shizzle.

I'm going to get my money back from those Yidmasters at Autoaccessory store. I would highly recommend against ordering the kit. It is complete trash.

Someone had to be the guinnea pig -> No big loss here.

gdupg35, that's what I was afraid of with these kits, sorry you had to be the one to get one, geez, hope you can get your money back with no trouble! If you look closely at the "kit" pic I posted, you can actually see it not laying properly against the console!

Re: Real Aluminum trim

Hmmm... Sorry to hear that the product turned out to be a sham. Hopefully one day a company will make a quality kit!

Re: Real Aluminum trim

It is a shame, because the pic of the black wood kit looks like quality stuff. There is no way to explain just how lame and cheap the supposed "real alumimum" kit is. From the few pieces I tried to put on, it would be a cool look if the pieces were actually cut right and weren't so thin. The pieces reminded me of vinyl stickers. They may have actually been made from aluminum, but every last edge showed and none of them had enough adhesive to make them stick. They better give me a full refund or I will report them to BBB for false advertising -> I asked them a bunch of questions regarding the product, and it was not at all what I expected.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

gdupg35... eek! it sounds like you got some wrigley spearmint gum wrapper as trim. good luck with the posers and be sure to post in the "buyer's feedback" forum so they can't dupe anyone else.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

I ordered a kit from www.dashkitstore.com. The first kit had a few blemishes and the wood was too dark so I sent it back. I went with the Platinum Burlwood. It looks awesome with the Willow interior and trim. The pieces are flat and don't look too odd or cheesey, but wrap-around pieces would probably look better. However, all of the pieces do fit well and they are very customer friendly, responding to my emails within minutes and working with me to get the info I needed. BTW, you need to apply an adhesive promoter on the surface before you stick the kit on. Most kits come with a 3M 94 Primer adhesive promoter, but if it doesn't, this stuff is almost impossible to find at the retail level, and if you do you have to buy in large quantities. Otherwise, these guys have a large selection and the wood quality, feel, fit is very good.
Good Luck
