Final Warranty Checkout $1500+

****My final warranty check ended up at $3,500 of value performed, for all interested.
****Updated cost of BOSE head unit below - dealer said $2200; wow.

Just got the car back from an oil&filter and it's final warranty checkout. I may buy the Infiniti Elite Extened Warranty but I haven't made my mind up yet.

I took it in with a small, nit-picky list as follows;
  • CD player skipping when cold (happened on two of the coldest days so far this winter; ~14 degrees)
  • Squeak/rattle from passenger side (haven't been able to replicate consistently)
  • Remote window control only rolls some windows down part way (seems it works only very close up) (I'll replace the battery and see if the range improves)
  • Driver Seat grinds when moved forward or backward (seems to have subsided when I more thoroughly tucked the rear passenger carpet))
  • Passenger wiper washer fluid dispenser; top jet nozzle clogged
  • Passenger Seat controls working intermittently
  • Center console storage lid rubber grommets
  • Driver door locks intermittently when closing (think lock switch engages sometimes)

The following was completed for $3500, including the BOSE replacement stereo that is on order, also under warranty.
  • BOSE stereo on order $2200
  • Cush-Compression Rods replaced $215
  • Center console rubber grommets $24
  • Passenger seat switch assembly $232
  • Washer fluid nozzle cleaned
  • Driver side seat track assembly $862

I'm pleased. Will update when the stereo comes in.

Just thought others approaching the end of their warranty might be interested.

I thinking also about getting the Elite Warranty. Going to shop around the local dealerships and see what kind of deal I can get.

Here's the most competitive quote I've received. Quotes may vary from car to car based on condition and mileage, etc. I don't really know.

24 month/ 24,000 miles $100 Deductible $1033
36 month/ 36,000 miles $100 Deductible $1349
36 month/ 48,000 miles $100 Deductible $1536
48 month/ 48,000 miles $100 Deductible $1726

To make the deductible "0"add $200

If you have any questions please call (603) 891-1400 and ask for Arthur.

Would I be able to get this now?
As I just bought an 05? Or do you have to do it straight after your original warranty goes out?

I'm still under bumper to bumper until 29 Jan. I'm also at 49K. Those two factors affect price significantly I believe.

Or do you have to do it straight after your original warranty goes out?
I'm told, you really want to get your Infiniti Elite Extended before your original bumper to bumper runs out. I believe there's a price point there.

I don't have many of my tax forms in yet but based on what I expect to get back this year I may just drop $2k and put all that worry behind me for the next 4 years. Also, based on the fact that I've had $2K in warranty work done in the last year, I'm thinking it may turn out to be a decent investment.

So I'm out of luck?
Or would it just be extremly expensive?

You're an '05 so you're probably still under your original bumper to bumber, that's a plus. I don't know your mileage though.

Just send a few emails to a few dealers with your VIN and they should be able to provide you with a quote. That's what I did.

I think they looked up my car in their system and reviewed the maintenance history for major concerns too, but maybe not.

Oh really? How long is the warranty for? I just got the car, and didn't even think that I'd be under warranty still. Yea I'm gonna look into that.

Added value of last warranty item to first post, as I stated I would.

curious, after getting quotes, are elite warranty plan prices negotiable among dealers with price quotes?

is doest matter which state one buys the elite warranty plan right?

I got my dealership to Certify my car for free when I bought it last year. nowadays, dealers will do almost anything short of giving the cars away to move them....

48 Months/60,000 miles from original in-service date, i.e. when the car was originally purchased and licensed. A dealer can tell you this info by your VIN number, as can Carfax or Autocheck. Most 2005's will still be under warranty, but you should check as soon as possible (like this week).

The dealer can also quote you the price for an Elite Plan, but be warned, not every car will qualify. If it's been wrecked severely enough, it won't qualify. There are some other restrictions as well, but ask them.
