i've driven both, and i bought an '04 G. the stout rear-drive platform is clearly the way to go, combined with the added luxury touches. 250+ hp and front wheel drive don't mix well. i'm guessing you'll hear favourable comments towards the G, this being g35driver.

0-60 for an auto would be low 6's (6.1-6.2-ish).

So basically the G is faster and a better overall car. Also I drove in my friends 04 fx35 last night and I though it was pretty fast does the G have around the same performence as the fx35?

Don't buy the Maxima, they are so ugly and FWD.

^^ the g35 has the same engine as the fx, but weighs less and has a lower centre of gravity. therefore the g has much better overall performance numbers: acceleration, braking, handling, fuel economy etc.

use the sticky FAQ at the top of this forum for further details. also, there is tons of research on the internet for the g.

I've got my G35 Sedan and a black 2006 Maxima in the family. The Maxima is a much larger car, has a crap load of interior space, packs plenty of power, rides softer and has a more up scale rear end than the G35, along with those quad exhaust tips. They really are two different cars, and I picked the G35 for my particular driving style. The Maxima is not a bad choice but you might get something else you like at the same price point. The G35 is faster in a line, faster in a corner and a lot more confidence inspiring when the driving gets aggressive.

I bought mine with 77k and if the regular maintenance is done you will have an excellent car. Of course, you can do the 60k service yourself. You shouldn't find any other problems other than the listed on this forum in various threads.

I got my 05 with like 68 and some change on the clock(highway miles), and I havent had any problems except I recently changed the back brakes but will change the rotors in like 2 weeks, add a hks muffler, and a tuneup. Compared to the maxima, yeah its bigger inside but the G is where its at. When I open up on the highway it feels very agressive kinda off ticks other people off and makes them go faster. Go with the G.

The Maxima is a much bigger car, and you notice it. G is more driver friendly.

it really comes down to if you want a true sports sedan, FWD will never qualify as one, so my vote is for the G. Low-mid 6s for 0-60 and mid-high 14s 1/4 mile.

I bought my 03 G35 with 74K miles. I replaced the back brakes and resurfaced rotors so far and had to buy new tires. I had a 02 Maxima and 00 I30t and the G drives much nicer and better. I know the 04 Max is a totally different car but the G is going to handle much differently. Like the above posts lower center of gravity and it being smaller its going to handle better. My question to you is, do you want the extra room and FWD of the Maxima or more sportier oriented G with RWD? My guess the Maxima is going to get a little better MPG also???
