Thats odd that the outside buttons work but the car wont start. I would for sure try a new battery first. Like i said when i got my car BOTH remotes were dead, the remote buttons would not work, the outside buttons would not work, but the car would sometimes start (i guess depending on where the key was). When i replaced the battery everything worked.

I know its a stretch but its only 5 bucks and you will need it eventually anyway.
