Got two quotes, one from Rochester Collision and one from Austin Spencer Collision. Rochester collision didn't include the G35X nameplate, but I'm thinking of just having them leave it off

Rochester collision gave me a quote of:
replace bumper cover- $384.36
replace Left Energy Absorber- $63.42
replace Overslam Bumper- $73.98
Hazardous Waste- $3.00
Flex Additive- $15.00

So
Parts: $521.76
Body Labor: $88.20 (2.1 hours at $42.00/hour)
Paint Labor: $151.20(3.6 hours at $42.00/hour)
Paint Supplies:$84.60(3.6 hours at $23.50/hour)
Sublet/Misc: $18.00
Total: $863.76
8% Tax: $69.10
Grand Total: $932.86

And then I went to Austin Spencer Collision
replace bumper cover- $384.36
replace Left Energy Absorber- $63.42
Nameplate "G35X"- $19.83
Hazardous Waste- $3.00
Flex Additive- $12.00

So
Parts: $482.61
Body Labor: $82.80 (1.8 hours at $46.00/hour)
Paint Labor: $165.60 (3.6 hours at $46.00/hour)
Paint Supplies:$90.00 (3.6 hours at $25.00/hour)
Total: $821.01
8% Tax: $65.98
Grand Total: $886.69

Austin Spencer seemed like a much better shop, had the boss of the shop look over the car, so I think I'm going to go with them

YYyeeeeaaaaaa more expensiveeeee one lol. That a boy. But honestly... whatever shop that makes you more comfortable in doing the work is the best to go with. If you know they will do a+ work regardless of price, then the decision is already made in my eyes

EDIT: just realized it's not the more expensive on.. booo lol

that's a heck of a "bump"! as above posts said, don't be too nice. you know what they say about nice guys finishing last...make sure that you get the repairs done to your satisfaction and she covers all costs. i agree there is no need to be a jerk about it, as you said "$hit happens", but your car must be put back to exactly how it was before she "bumped" it. she should be billed directly. don't write a cheque to the body shop until money is received from her.

your gut reaction to a shop's professionalism is often a decent indicator. you can usually tell by how a shop is kept up, and the manner with which you are treated, how the quality of work will fair. also if they have been in business for an extended period...

Yeah, I had a great reaction when I went to Austin Spencer, they pulled a car that they were working on out and rolled mine in to look at it, very professional.

After seeing the number, she decided to go through her insurance, so I have already had the adjuster here to look at it, handed me a check for $813.77, which is ~60 less than the place, so I"m about to call them to see whats up

everything appears to be fine, repair shops gonna call me as soon as they get the part, which she said will either be tomorrow or Monday most likely

I'm gonna see if they can do a couple other painting and things for me, like paint my side sills and pull a smallllllll dent out of my quarter panel, and i get a free doll-up from a coupon I won!

Woop... at least something good is coming out of this mess, and I got it cleaned up pretty darn fast, got in the accident less than 24 hours ago I already have a check and parts on the way.

you didn't have to take the $813 check, thats the insurance company nickel and dimeing you. show them the quotes you had and you should of asked for the most expensive one, which was the 932.86 to the company once they give you your check they are done. they dont follow up and see if you went to that shop. Also loaner car $$ as well. even if you didn't need it the least they can do is give you what you ask for which was 860 or something.

if what is done is done. Oh well chalk that up to a lesson learned if something happens again. I got smashed very similiar to that. but i didn't know of a good shop. the company took care of me. I had the rental until i picked up my car. Out my pocket i think it was like $1.40 in taxes that the company didn't pay and i was pretty mad but i let that go really easy. I also claimed that the accident caused my muffler to be damaged, they said it was due to rust but cut me a $30 check for a new tip that was damaged.

sounds good man. glad you got everything cleared up (for the most part) already. Hopefully you'll be able to paint up a few more of the parts while you're at it!

I think your neck hurts now that she filed with insurance. That extra money your insurance will cost a year will be nicely covered after you get your money from how much your neck hurts
