Installed new shift boot and **** today

Thought I'd share some pics of my new Mr. Shifter boot (eBay, silver carbon vinyl with tan stitching) and Datsun 280Z shift **** (from Zcarparts.com). Thought I'd pay some respect to Grandpa Datsun with the ****...... Had to drill it out with an 11/32's bit and re-tap it to 10x1.25mm threads. My biggest concern was what to do with the top of the shift boot, where it meets the ****. I dug through a box of hardware I keep, and found a couple curved washers off of a motorcycle. They were used on the bike, to cover a rubber grommet; I think on the tank rubbers. Anyway, put one inside the boot (it won't pull through), then another on the outside, screwed on the **** and sandwiched it between them.
Everything was a lot easier than I anticipated.
If anyone has any questions how to do it, let me know.

Peace

The **** needs some changing. Aside from making your car look old fashioned it makes about as much sense in a G car as a Chevy ****. Even a **** with the Nissan logo will confuse most people who enter your car.

I'm actually even 2 steps farther behind in my thinking-- what was the purpose for the change. Cosmetically, it looks odd and out of place: practically, was the previous one broken or what?

Doesn't make sense on a G car? Do you think that the 350z or the G would be around if it weren't for the Fairlady Z, 240z, or 280z? Better than having it say skunk, voodoo or some other typical name on an overpriced piece of metal; IMHO.

No need to school me on Nissan/Datsun history, ny previous car was a 1995 300ZX so I'm well informed. This still doesn't answer why an antiquated Z **** is inside your G35.
