2006 or 2007 Sedan

Still loving my ride 2003 Black/Black with 18 inch wheels and lowered Z suspension but the car is getting up there in miles 165,000 kilometers
and was looking to upgrade to a 2006 or 2007, was wondering what the
difference would be in each model and is there a downside to one or the
other, not looking for an X simply rear wheel drive, from the outside
it looks like the 06 is similar to the 03 and the 07 is more like the 09.
For some reason I think I like the older style more, my buddy just picked
up a 09 so will clean mine up and compare them side by side. Thanks guys
for your input.

07 is a complete redesign. If you were to get a newer car an 06 wouldnt be too much different than what you have currently other than a few cosmetic changes that happened in 05. I would go for an 07+. The 09 G37s on the other hand now are 330HP and if you can by all means go for the 09!!

07+ for sure just for the interior way better than the 03/04 and 05/06 combined IMO and a little more power. But the 09 has the power and the interior.

I don't care about the interior, I sort of like the earlier one, but I thought
I would get more people liking the older body style, IMO it looks more aggressive, how much more ponies in the 2007 than the 2006...

i guess i'm in the minority. i like the 06 6mt sport sedan overall look to the 07. the 07 looks too soft and rounded for my taste. i don't care for the 07 sport wheels either. i love the 06 sport rims.

to me the interior of the 07 feels more cramped/claustrophobic. the dash & window belt-line feels higher. i've had a few for loaners and found the visibility to be more restricted than gen 1's.

power increase is negligible for 07. 306 vs 298, but i believe the 07 weighs in slightly heavier so straightline performance is probably equal.

now if you have the scratch to spring for an 09 G37 that is a different story. i would consider that option if i was in the market for a new ride.

I was in the same boat. I was going to lease an '08 X....or was going to purchase an '06 or '07 X. My only criteria was it came fully loaded with Nav.

I decided against the lease for cost reasons. I drive 20-22K miles/year so a lease was too expensive.

While i liked the 07+ exterior, i loved the '06 interior better. Don't get me wrong i like both style vehicles, but i just found my '06 stone interior to be cozy and liked it. Also, i do somewhat like the 05-06 body style with it's more rounded edges. I drove both, got a feel for them and still decided to go for the '06. Of course everyone is going to love the new cars because they are new. They have upgraded, are fresh and trendy and usually are "better" than the preceeding year. Manufacturers want to make you trade in your old model and buy a new one. However for me, an '06 was plenty good enough for my needs and wants. I am happy.

In 4-5 years, i want to see where Infiniti goes with the G37 sedan. I'd love to see an AWD 6-spd. But i'm also starting to think i'd like an M45x (or M50x) as my next infiniti.

Your right, not much diff in power 298 to 306, I guess the best way is
to sit in a 2007 and see if the interior does it for me, but I'm sort of a minimalist kind of guy so ....I like my interior complete black console
and all. If I felt flush would probably go for 2009 for sheer power, it seems
to me I read somewhere that the 07 is complete redesign and the car is made
stronger and tighter, plus longer, lower and wider, I always felt the car was too high, I'm not tall and I have to get on my tippy toes to wash the roof
while the wifey's 323 two door bimmer is no problem.

um the power difference is huge...The torque curve is flatter and longer vs the first gen engine. It's not even in the same boat
