dealer settings... wth?
hey guys,
i've had my G35 sedan over a month and i love it. However i just checked my tire pressure and it was set at 41 psi, isn't that a little high? I lowered it to 32, and the manual says 30 (it feels completely different now). What should it be set at? And why did the dealer set it so high?

Our rides are shipped with high pressures to help guard against flat-spotting and to help with clearance when offloading truck ramps etc. Hahaha, some have complained that theirs have had 50+ psi when they check pressures because the dealer forgot.
When I had my Sedan, I ran about 35 psi, but the manual calls for 30, which I thought was too soft. 35 will get you a little better gas mileage, and slightly tighter in the corners.
Don't go any higher tho -- the contact patch will be too small.
Enjoy your Sedan.

Are you checking the tire pressure before running the car when the tires are cold? After running the car, I've checked my tire pressure and they're at about 39-41 because they're hot and the air has expanded. When cold, I like to keep the tire pressure at about 34-35. BTW - I don't understand why Infiniti had to cheap out in the G35 Navi system and not add the individual tire pressure readings (under the Navi's 'Info' display) just like in the FX35 (which shows what each individual tire's pressure in real time). I was very disappointed when I found out that the G35 just has 1 dashboard warning light to indicate that '1 or more of the tires' air pressure is low'...there's 4 of them, and which one would that be??????? A little vague.

This is due to the sloppy dealer service. Mine was delivered at around 40 also. The ride was rough on the way home from the dealer. When I test drove the car, the ride was not so rough. I adjusted the pressure when I got home.
This should be done at the dealer's as part the check list when delivering the car. Evidently, quite a few of them don't do it. I called it sloppy and they want us to grade them excellent in the Infiniti survey!!! Heck, mine was deliver with dirty rims and just plain lousy clean up as a whole and I told the salesman also. His answer was that their regular guy was not there on that day. That did not do any good for me.

Bsgoren is correct. Make sure that whatever you set your pressures at that you do so when the tires are cold. I find that first thing in the morning is good b4 running the car at all.
After running the car the pressures will rise 5 psi or more.
