G35x exhaust thoughts

Hi guys,

I'm currently in mental torment over modifying my exhaust system. So far I'm going to swap the coupe midpipe to lose some weight and make some noise.

Today I got under my X and took a look and realized why the Stillen catback system would need some modification to fit. There is a bend in the rear that I think would not be compatible without some modification. After checking out some hardware online I'm thinking that a couple of things might work.

1. Fujitsobo Y pipe coupled with the Legalis-R for the sedan or
2. Fujitsobo Y pipe coupled to the GReddy Evo2 for the sedan.

Any thoughts would be appreciated including sound impressions, performance gains.

X

Re: G35x exhaust thoughts

IMO, I would buy the Stillen, then buy a few mandrel bends from JcWhitney.com and go to a exhaust shop and have them make it happen.

For about the same money, the Jic Y-pipe is better then the others on the market. The only catch on both is that they use a 76.3mm collector and both exhaust's you list are 70mm diameter. Between the Greddy or the Fujitsobo exhaust, I'd get the Fujitsobo.

Xman- Which other way you decide to go, please keep us informed. Changing the exhaust is one of my future mods. You have been one step ahead of me on every mod. Somewhat acting as a G35 guineapig )

Keep Moding brother!

Re: G35x exhaust thoughts

Hey guys..was wondering if any of you had finished this project or had new information. I recently upgraded from a base 03' sedan to an 04X and want to upgrade the exhaust but understand there are no aftermarket kits for the G35x.
Any new news is greatly appreciated.

Re: G35x exhaust thoughts

I still keep my eyes open for a plug n' play system but nothing yet. I've had the coupe mid-pipe on for awhile then added the HKS muffler. To me the combination droned a bit much. Right now I just have the HKS muffler with the sedan mid-pipe.

Anyone else?

i took a closer look when i installed the coupe midpipe, and found that the Fujitsobo Y pipe wont be able to fit on our G35x....
take a look at the photo i took....and the fujitsobo y-pipe

I agree with you 100% X. The combination fo coupe midpipe + HKS muffler produces some serious droning. However when using the HKS muffler + sedan muffler = BEAUTIFUL GROWWWL. Trust me, the sound is off the hook and I LOVE IT.

Re: G35x exhaust thoughts

with that combo, what do you think your HP gains are? Would this be the same as adding the Stillen muffler? Also, short of having one fabricated, there is no way of getting a dual exhuast for the X yet? Sorry I just want to get all my ducks in a row before spending a dime on Mods this time.

Re: G35x exhaust thoughts

My butt dyno says minimal gain if any. It's a sound mod and it looks great. So, if your looking for some serious gains I'd wait for a dedicated system.
