I know there are a few people on this forum that have the HKS exhaust on their G35 sedans and i was wondering if they could share thier thoughts about them. I am very concerned with the sound comapred to the stock setup. Is it deeper, more agressive? I hope it doesnt sound ricey. Also, is it worth the money, or is there a better exhaust out there?

 

do a search on HKS and you'll get a few. I believe Ryoken has one and loves it. Said it's not much louder than stock. Gives it a growly european Sports car tone.

I have one. I was going to do the coupe mid-pipe too but I decided not to. When I first started the car it was really quiet but when it warms up it sounds verrrry nice !!! Not high pitched like the coupe or FX, not as musical as a Ferrari or Alfa, but a good growl that builds to its max at about 3700 rpm. After that it gets quieter and the Z-tube/Pop charger take over. Just cruising it is not obtrusive and has zero drone. Although I hate it when my wife takes the car, I just love hearing her drive away. I can even hear it from inside the house when she "gets on it" !

It also looks great. Two round pipes and all polished stainless. Very high quality and looks like what the car SHOULD have come with.

All in all a really good mod. There are no flow advantages from the coupe midpipe and the sedan mid section may have some important aerodynamic advantages. I may get a Y-pipe in the future, but not until the prices are somewhat less "stratospheric".

In the thread for the supercharged sedan video the guy has a stillen exhaust and i LOVE the sound of that! Does the HKS sound similar? Check the video out its awesome!

 

I put the HKS on my car earlier this month and love it. Yesterday, I dynoed my car and it yielded 7 additional HP at the rear wheels compared to my last dyno, which was only with the Stillen, Z-tube, and GroundingGear. I also perceived that the HKS restored the lost low end power after I put the Stillen on.

Regarding sound, it's very mild, only a little louder than stock, but a nicer deeper sound. It also actually balanced out the Stillen intake sound, so the overall sound is much more complete at WOT.

My next dyno will be after I get my TS F-Spec ECU (it's in transit right now), and I'll keep you posted.

I have the dual tip HKS rear section exhaust and like it lots!
Before I installed it, my Stillen HF AB and Z-tube combo
was really loud. The addition of the exhaust has seemed to
quiet down the intake. The sound is addictive. I am always
goosing the car to hear the beautifull music the intake/exhaust
make togeather. Love it! No droning. The idle sound is a little
deeper. Cruising on the highway is also very quite.
It only sounds mean on accelaration. See my Sedan pics

I'm liking the sound of this one. Does anyone have it in combo with a Y-pipe? That would be more comparative to the full systems like the Stillen or Borla.

I'd like to hear more about a Y-pipe + HKS review, in terms of gains, sound, and cost.

Additionally, where can the HKS be purchased?

mostly sound advantages. the sedan midpipe isn't that restrictive, it's straight through. if searching for performance, the midpipe should not be replaced. replace the y-pipe instead OR go with a full cat-back system

Mine is just the rear section exhaust, aka muffler.
I have been thinking about a Y-pipe upgrade.
I realize that the muffler alone makes only minimal
HP gains. HKS claims 10 hp. Probably not.
But with a Y-pipe upgrade, probably more.
