cabin heating cooling issue - is it a common problem?

I have had 80k problem free miles with my 03 sedan. However, this issue has happend three times during the past two weeks. The climate control temps would go up to 90, and then the fan would turn on high. Regardless of what I would push, there was no changing it. it was stuck on 90 and fan on high! It would stay this way until the key was turned off and reset. It does have the auto dual climate controls, so I'm wondering if it's a bad board, sensor, or something similar that might be causing this. Any toughts?

Are there known problems with the earlier sedans related to the heating cooling system controls?

What vent is tha fan blowing through? If it is the defrost vents then it could be a vaccuum problem. Maybe a hose came loose. This is done as default to keep the window clear in bad weather.

I don't recall for sure... I'll have to pay close attention if it happens again.

2003 and 2004 stock climate control boards/buttons have issues with the circuitry. You have 2 options the way i see it if it is the problem.

#1) there is a company that will fix the stock circuit board

#2) there are double din conversions that will replace the HU but you will also have to replace the radio.

Nope, aftermarket.

It's a common prob on 2003's. Do you happen to notice if your radio acts odd too at the same time? The display freezes and none of the buttons work BUT you have your steering wheel controls??

The prob is the radio board is intermixed with the HVAC board. The stock radio messes up and takes out half the interior electronics

The fix is a double din JDM faceplate, a JDM A/C controller and an aftermarket double din radio unit.

It's gonna cost you some coin

will changing the front plate electronic board fix the problem or is it more of an internal issue? I see the front plate boards for sale quite often and typically at a good price.
