This is exactly how my original DE Y-Pipe (short runners more "T" shaped, really long collector tube)used to fit.. it went right under the XFER box w/o any issues... then when the HR y-pipe was installed, it went AROUND the XFER box with lots of clearance. I have an 04 G35x, February "born on" date..
I think late model year 04.5 and 05/06 x's went to the puck-less flavor of the "HR-like" Y-pipe. I say this only because I've read posts on here where some 04 x owners have gotten under their cars to find out they had what they thought were HR pipes... but without the pucks.

Doesn't that mean that you can put the XYZ under the XFER box? Or does it not fit?

Oh ok, you think its safe to remove, i mean it is there for a reason but im wondering if the xyz pipe will fit without it. That seems to be the most visible thing in the way. I cant really tell if the xyz pipe will fit without it hitting the transfer case itself. Its hard to tell just by looking at pics as for they all are at different angles and we have different years.

I looked under mine today, and it looks like I'm in the same boat as him. Anyone know how vital that vibration damper is and if it can be removed? It looks like Coup de grace already removed it, because my xfer case looks identical to his other than the y pipe and it looks like he removed it.
