Is this a fair price for a 2005 g35 sedan?

It's a silver 2005 g35 sedan with all options except navigation and the 6MT. It has 58,000 miles and a warranty for 2k more. It was in an accidente once with no frame damage and fully repaired. Carfax verifies all of this.

The dealer is asking for $14,995, and I'd like to get him down to 12-13,000. Is that a reasonable thing for me to ask? He's been trying to sell the car for a month. In nashville if it matters.

P.S. I've been trying to pick out a car for the last 8 months and so glad to have finally decided on one, I can't wait to become an active member of this community

Talk them down...

I would agree with J 4..it should be in the 11-12K range. At auction yours is in the 9-10K range .I just scored a mint 2006 G35 , loaded, nav ,6MT etc...with only 9 K miles for $14,900 in Boston. I was looking for about a month and noticed the prices vary quite a bit. If you expand your search a bit you can find one. I travelled 2 1/2 hours to buy mine and it was worth the 2 day hassle.

good luck !

Doesn't sound bad at all. I just picked up an 05 sedan sport package 6MT, fully load sans the navigation as well. 54k miles, great condition except a squeak coming from the rear deck that I need to pull the seats apart and fix...

I made it out the door at $16k, so that includes california's high *** tax.

Do you guys know of anything I can show him to back up my claim that it isn't a fair price? Bluebook, etc.

Who cares, tell him you want it for that much or walk. You don't need to prove anything to him. If he won't go lower, find a new car.

I personally wouldn't buy a car that had been in an accident unless it was priced at half of what it's worth.

I used cars.com and carmax.com as my resource for price comparison. If they don't yeild anything better/lower, then it's probably at market value.

But just as the others here have said, that doesn't mean anything to you, what really matters is what that car is worth to you.

You could also ask him to throw in some other incentives like oil changes, tire rotation, etc....

oh, my bad, didn't notice that it had been in an accident. Yeah, 11-12k for sure. If there is no chance of the dealer budging, then walk. Either get the price you want or move on. Doesn't matter how much paper work you supply to say it's an unfair price, in the end of the day, the dealer can sell at whatever price they want (assuming there is a buyer...)

11-12K Max. That's all I'd pay. But I doubt he'll go that low. Definitely get it checked out by another mechanic/body shop before you buy. There are plenty of good deals out there on a G, so don't feel like this is as good as it gets.
