Unhappy Clear coat bubbles

Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with their clear coat bubbling and coming off? I did perform a search and all I found was the following: https://g35driver.com/forums/care-de...oing-hell.html

I have a 2003 G35 Twilight Blue sedan and my clear coat on my roof is coming off. I first noticed small bubbles about a year ago but wasn't sure what to do about it and it slowly got worse. The attached pictures are the condition it is in now. I do park my car outside and it's not covered. No other place on my car I have this issue just the roof. My roof has never been damaged or repainted. I do take care of my car, wash and wax it. I am way out of warranty and I didn't get the extended warranty so taking it back to the dealer to get it redone is out of the question, unless someone knows of a way to get them to fix it for free.

that looks terrible!!! All I can say is do some sanding and get it repainted. Should be pretty inexpensive if it just that roof. Just keep a ton of wax on it. That sucks.

Holy f-ck! I've never seen that happen to a G. See if that's still covered under warranty and get that repainted!

Yup I'm the original owner. Just another thing to add to the list that I need to fix or I have already gotten fixed and car is not under warranty anymore. Replaced: valve covers (I saw the first thread about this 6 months after my warranty expired) ... Need to fix: front bumper.... sigh.....

Yup I usually wax it once a year, I should probably do it more often but I get lazy.

My first car ('87 Blazer) had this exact thing happen two times to the factory paint. It always started out as little white spots that eventually turned into huge spots that looked like a peeling sunburn. Obviously paint has come a long way in the last 15 years so I'm surprised it happened to yours. With the Blazer it seems like it was something specific to the color I had (charcoal grey) that had problems because it happened again after it was repainted under warranty. I would just go get the roof resprayed because it will just get worse and will only look good when it's wet.

bay area, cali.. Hot and harsh sun, the salt from the ocean.. I would recommend doing a wax job a little more often than once a year..

use a carnuba wax soap to wash it, and polish before you wax to get all the grime off of the paint.. from the picture it seems like you have some serious build up of crap on that paint (other than the obvious bubbling)

Wow... that is paint neglect at its best right there.

Wax only lasts 4-6 weeks. You need a good sealant at least twice a year and wax every few months.

I think the key is that he does not garage his car + what u said. If you garage your car at home and work, you can get away with 2-3 waxes a year and have good looking paint--I should know

It seems rather common for outdoor cars, see here:
original owner thread with the same issue

g/l on getting it fixed bro.

I've got a w/s I need to replace...it's always something.
