well i was crusing home tonight tired from seeing anchorman (which was a good movie ) and i see this WRX. well he sounds of his blow off valves and guns it at around 30. I gun it and he never looked back . then we stop at another light. expecting him to gun it but he didnt. all the sudden i see him pass me. i was never able to catch up to him, being behind him about 1 1/2 <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw"><A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw">car</A></A> lengths the whole time.

He did compliment my car though at the end

Nice to see you each had an appreciation of the other's car. I had a wrx until I just traded it on a new Legacy, and will say that most subie owners love the G35. Nice to see you could give the wrx its due too!

Yes, I really like my Legacy so far. It feels to me to be as fast or faster than my wrx, but with more low end torque and smoother delivery, and of course an overall more polished demeanor.

Who doesn't love the G35? I peek in on numerous different forums from time to time...

 

I love the WRX... But i thought i coulda taken it. i raced it with my harley F150 and pretty much took out my friends WRX at the 1/4. Sucks it has a gov at 130 though... FORDS what can u expect.

RX 8's look like pretty sweet cars. I look forward to racing em.

Yea, my friends work at the subaru dealer here in NY and have crazy Sti's, and all of em love my G for some reason lol. And my friend is just about to drop a ***. Spec Sti engine in his 2.5 RS which is 600lbs lighter than an sti with more HP than an american sti. It will be FAST!! Ive raced a pretty modded WRX from a 30MPH roll here, we both had 3 people in our car including us the drivers. He took me from a roll about half a car length then I started edging on him when he would shift into a gear and finally at 85 when we were at the top of 3rd gear I punched it into 4th and while he shifted after I did I just started pulling. Its all the shift points really and the WRX's lose steam ont he highway and on the top end. Great cars though, try and find him and race him again =) Martin

I own a G35sedan and my screen name over at C&D forum is et.

 

Don't feel bad at all...I have gone head to head with many a WRX at the track and elsewhere....I win some, and I lose some...some say they are all stock and I know better, and some tell ya the truth.

A broken in G35 AT or 6MT, IE one with at least 12K on the ticker, will beat, not kill, a stock WRX and then begin to pull it really nice on the top end. If you do $1000 of mods to a WRX see ya later b/c it b/cs an animal on wheels.

I had a similar experience, some punk WRX driver (not all WRX drivers are like this) was following me when I was switching lanes minding my own business, I gunned it to show him who's boss but I ended up loosing at one car length. But rather than giving me a complement, he was laughing when we were at the stop light with his passenger friend. It was stock, but those things are sure fast (MT's).

 

Yea like I said in my last post, I went head to head with a 6spd modded (not heavily) and he was surprised... He had a few things and I had intake, he was a pretty good driver but me using manual mode shifts faster than him when just pushing it up from 3rd to 4th there's hardly any lag between the shift and I started pulling. Ive raced my best gf's wrx auto and MURDERED it!! Sti make me look supid, I dont race random sti's jsut my friends who wanted ot see what it could do. I'll tell ya though, on the highway the turbo ont he sti loses steam also, sti's can only hold off like a 2 cl on me without each other pulling, dunno.

thats pretty sweet. what mods do you have in the near future iLL?

 

I could be wrong, but I believe the STI, while only pushing 300 HP in stock form is geared really low to compensate for the extra weight of that Americanized STI engine, and if this is the case you very well may be able to run with one on the hightway...course at the track he would be 10 car lengths or so ahead of you.

Boss your exactly rite!! Even the Sti guys say the G35's give a good run on the highway (6spd or heavy modded auto)
VQ, tomorrow im putting in my Borla cat back, hopefully helix test pipe's, 7 wire GK, and the UR crank pulley set. Then next weekend if I dont get the test pipe's by tomorrow my plenum will be going on (hopefully for that too) and I might be getting headers, not sure. I am hoping for some great gains from the plenum, exhaust, pulley's and test pipe's, we'll see. Im gonna do a before and after dyno. Martin
